sighted in my .223 in 40 to 50 degree weather,today around 80 first shot 2 1/2 inches high,2 inches left,does temp effect it that much?

Yes, Especially depending upon the tempature sensitivity of the powder.

Could be the temp. Where were the rest of the shots? Was the barrel clean? My 223 is the first barrel I have ever had that will shoot about 2" with the first shot out of a clean barrel. Second shot about 1" high and then right on with the third. I know this is common, but it is the first barrel I have ever had the acted this way.

Temp does affect ballistics of some powders but I haven't noticed it that much on H335 but on H110/296 there are larger swings. Beings you are shooting high, that would suggest a slower load which would be the oposite of going from colder to warmer temps. Might also check your bedding on your bbl if it is applicaple to your type of gun. If it straightens out after a few shots it could be either a fouling problem or a non fouling problem.(did you clean it before you went out this time and not before?)
