Hello,

I just got a Marlin 336 Magnum Carbine .44 Mag. without Saddle Ring. The book I have says it was made in 1963/64 and only 2,823 were made before the saddle ring was added and changed to the 336T.
Does anyone know the sequence used on the serial number of this production?
Mine is Z 402XX.

According to this link, it was mfd in 1964.

Saw a similar (tho not as old) 44mag Marlin today at a gun show.
