Anything you have in a legal caliber is suitable for dipping a toe in the water to see if you think you'd like the sport. Don't buy any semiauto to use solely as a silhouette rifle, though. Get a bolt gun. This is a good intro...whatever happened to the iron sight semiauto class that was introduced a few years back? I've got a sweet 42B Ljungman that needs exercise.
