Jehovah Witness Visits.
« on: March 22, 2023, 06:38:44 AM »
Doorbell rang about 11:00 this morning. Linda answered it it was too little old ladies from Jehovah Witnesses. When I went out to my pickup to go to the ranch I saw that we had a whole street full of Jehovah Witnesses. Two of them walked up to me and I pointed out my house and said, don't come back, they said okay, I'm feeding cows.

Almost 4 years ago, a Jehovah witness woman came to the house. She'd been there before, and we usually chatted. Hand me her track and leave. This time was different, summer, and I was in the back of my property in the garden. A little over 100 yds. Woods in between. Couldn't see much of the house and driveway. Couple bags of veggies from the garden, and heading up. The dog I had was a Doberman by the name of Natasha. Took off on a full run towards the house, and me with a quick walk to see what she was getting worked up over. She had the Jehovah Witness lady backed up against my back door, with Natasha at the bottom barking and growling! Got up to them, get Natasha to settle down. Fear in her eyes told me she was really scared. She said, she was only doing what was right, protecting your house. She didn't harm her. But, as she was walking towards her car, I smiled and said-Bet you never prayed as hard in your life as you did just now! Sure miss that dog, not so much the Jehovah witness lady. She's not been back, wonder why?
We keep trying peace, it usually doesn't work!!Remember(12/7/41)(9/11/01) gypsyman

  Indeed, it is pitiful to see such misled folks being so subservient to an "organization"..

   ..And folks think slavery ended in the US, almost 160 years ago..and this is voluntary slavery.

I once told a young pair of guys that "this household follows the writings of Anton Levay".  They asked who that was, and I advised them to consult with thier church elders.  I have never had another visit from them.
Still can't cotton to a religion that send thier parishiners out on a hot day, in 3-piece suits, riding bicycles. to build up the churchgoing base.  Then, I have serious reservations about organized religion, anyway.

I have seen any in years. I don't condem them as I have been just as annoyed by Baptists. I guess the word got around as I haven't been bothered by any sect for years. I am perfectly capable of finding my religion on my own, no help needed.

I don't see the Witnesses as slaves. I don't believe they force anyone to do anything. I have known a few over the years and every one of them was a very nice, polite individual. Those out in suits in hot wather are doing it because they want to, not because they will be whipped if they don't.

Anyway if you want to be a Witness, Mormon, Methodist, Baptist, regular or southern, whatever, it's completely up to the individual. If it satisfies your needs, go for it and I am done with religion as this belongs elsewhere as I have pointed out more than once..

    I normally don't engage them, usually just politely turning them away, since the Bible instructs us not to invite them in..
   "If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid
   him God speed:" (2 John 1:10)

    ..But if it is a nice summer day, I may engage them outdoors, and enjoy a bit of sport.  As they leave, following Biblical instructions, I will not say "goodbye" (God be with you), but may say something like "enjoy the sunshine" .
  Which is of course, a double entendre, also meaning "enjoy the sunshine of the true gospel, for a change."

    Occasionally they will come with what seems to be a "training pair".  Years ago, I had a trio come calling, while I was gardening.  Seems there were an elderly couple, along with a fresh recruit, a teenage girl.

   When I went in to get my Bible, I asked the wife to engage the seniors, while i talked with the novice..

  Soon the elders caught on, and grabbed the girl to hustle off..but by that time, she was listening...and thinking..

I used to get my Bible out and try to engage them, but I came to realize that it was more about me proving them wrong, than me witnessing to'em.

Now I just tell them not to come back. I don't make a big production out of it, thats all I say.

Jehovah Witnesses don't force anyone to do anything. They are false teachers, mostly teaching that Jesus is not God. Yes Jehovah's are very nice and polite people, wolves in sheep's clothing. Hell will be stacked to the ceiling with very nice polite people.  All beliefs except Christianity are religions, including Jehovah Witness. Christianity is not a religion. Its a relationship with Jesus Christ.  I have been done with religion for a good many years now, for religion leads people straight to hell.

The nicest way I can think of to answer your question is that it not a subject I am going to discuss on a forum as my beliefs are not something I wear on my sleeve like many do. I could have been much more blunt. I broke my rule of staying away from discussing religion by even commenting but I just don't see the witnesses as slaves as you indicated they were.

I would agree that JWs aren't slaves to the religion. They're volunteers. They chose to be JWs.

week needy people. no different then drunks or addicts. they could bring a million pounds of heroin an hour into this country and give it away free and probably no one here would touch it. kind of like the mentality of cults. some people NEED to be different or are just have susceptible personalities or need to have every step they make dictated to them and really dont want free thought

They are no worse or better than some other religions in my eyes. I'll be nice and not name names but they don't own the title of weak and needy anymore than some others.

Some new to the area, valid churches will go into their own neighborhood to inform and possibly evangelize their area.

  However, the difference usually is obvious right away..

   1) They will announce who they are with right off. (e.g. Calvary Baptist, Bible Presbyterian etc.)

  2) Will be polite

  3) Will try to converse on scripture, but won't force it on anyone..

  4) Will normally conform to the resident's request (stay or leave)

  I suppose there may be exceptions, and most cults are also polite to start, but you have met some other kind of
    Baptist than shown above, they are at fault.
  Perhaps the main dividing characteristic dividing a valid church and the cults, is item  #1

Good for you. Many folk would not have been able to have that kind of insight about their motives.

The world HQ for the Jehovah’s Witnesses was, for many years, near my home in Brooklyn, NY (that HQ has since moved upstate to Orange County, NY). For a number of years, I had a standing appointment with a married couple, Martha and Dick Ramble, who came to discuss their beliefs and to overcome my lack thereof. They were pleasant, focused people who came loaded with tracts for me to read. I read them. Occasionally, I would have a book for them to read that provided an alternate viewpoint. They never read any thing that I gave them. Eventually, I stopped the meetings. It took me a while to realize that I was starting to attack their faith as opposed to discussing alternates. I try not to attack another’s faith and so stopped the meetings.

Some folks never figure it out. I'm not gonna change a JW. They won't listen to you, they want you to listen to them.

We have one like that here. He's the expert. Everybody else is beneath him in knowledge. He's even talked about some folks that deserve going to Hell, and some that ARE GOING to Hell.

You and I have had some conversations, and I've spoke my piece. Anything beyond that would simply be a re-run. Free will,  is free will.

According to Dee;

  "
We have one like that here. He's the expert. Everybody else is beneath him in knowledge. He's even talked about some folks that deserve going to Hell, and some that ARE GOING to Hell."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  So why don't you take this fake speaking guy to task, whoever he is...prove him wrong by our text book, the Bible..
   BTW:  Despite what you imply, there are some people who  clearly will not make it to heaven!  ...Not my words, but God's words.
    "  9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."  (1 Cor 6:9-11 NKJV)
    Then there is the warning God posted in the third and forth verses from the end of the Bible..warning such, so they need not do trhe tour to HeII..
   "18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."  (Rev 22:18,19 NKJV)
    So, do you believe God's words or not?    There are plenty more similar verses where those two came from..in case you need more..
I enjoy the occasional "get off my property" chat, always have even though now I fit the grumpy old man stereotype.   30 something years ago when working 3rd shift I was asleep when the doorbell started ringing and didn't stop. House at the time was visable from the highway and for some reason it was a becon when people had car trouble.  So I look and its a young mother and a child with no car so I figured that was it.   Soon as I opened the door I was pissed as it was apparent that wasn't the case.  Still waking up she asked me what I thought armageddon would be.  I said most likely nuclear war and she said only the followers of jehovah would survive.  So I said hold up.   The bombs are falling, the shockwave and radiation are coming incinerating Christian, Christian, Jew (then making a wide arch around an imaginary object) jehovah witness?  I don't think so" and then  slammed the door and went back to bed.
We currently live out in the county and the most recent one was two 20's something young girls.  Wouldn't leave when asked.  Ballsy/dumb enough they didn't budge when I asked if I had to call the sheriffs office to have them arrested.  Finally I looked up and down the empty road and asked them "specifically who knows you're here right now?"  Ohh that did the trick!  They turned pale and couldn't leave fast enough.  Wife thought it was funny too, but was sure the police were going to stop by.
