Lost 4 calves last year. None so far this year. I have 2 donkeys.

They've been usin'em where I grew up for years to protect goats. It was an obvious solution.

Wasn't too many years ago that
the people that moved to the
"country " would just about give
you a donkey.  Since they've been
"rediscovered ", they fetch a fair
amount of dollars now

I paid 300 a piece a year ago, and now their bringing 600 or more.

Oh I wouldn't doubt that at all
In addition to all the free dogs and cats
and such,  there for a while one could
gather up donkeys and "miniature " farm
animals like dwarf cattle and horses and
such, and emus without number, and
all manner of "pets "
I was "given " some goats until the giver
realized that the goats were eventually to
be the guests of honor at a barbecue.
I have relatives the same way. They
bestow a humanity of sorts on their
animals
