Taquitos
« on: March 27, 2023, 06:58:00 PM »
Had the fixings, so I threw together
about 10 or 12 taquitos for supper.
I started to make some taco bell
taco sauce, but I had a container of
some green enchilada sauce that
was gifted to me, so I did that instead.

I have to say it was ok, but only ok.
Kinda watery to me and not as spicy
as I was expecting. I did lightly dose
it with some cumin and jalapeno salt
and a little chili powder, but it was
still just ok. I forgot what the brand
was, but it didn't deserve any
recommendation anyway

Now I have never had a Taquito in a Tex-Mex restaurant (unless you count those cheese filled jobbies Zantigo used to have) and the frozen ones are a waste of money.

I have cut down on visits to Mexican style eateries since the virus, not because of, I will have to get to one and try taquitos.

I made these here with store bought
tortillas.  There's an acquaintance that
says tacos even though they're
rolled and fried.
So much cooking things get convoluted
and diluted and polluted by yuppies not
following recipes as they should. Not too
long ago, I  had a go round with a yuppie
acquaintance about cooking discada and
the proper ingredients, etc.

I should have also added that I
can make way better salsa and
pico and taco sauce than I've
ever bought

Can't remember the brand, but one we have tried is ok, the other is not too good.  Wife has baked them bare, but I like them with enchilada sauce and cheese on top while they are cooked.

Probably because I'm where there's
an abundance of the proper ingredients,
but I can throw together a batch of
taquitos or burritos or tacos about
as fast as I can stir through the freezer
and open a bag of store bought, and
be eating before I can get frozen stuff
thawed to cook
