C. J. Hamilton formed Hamilton Rifle Company in 1897 after selling his interest in the Daisy Manufacturing Co. Hamilton is best known for designing the first Daisy airgun in 1888. The .22 caliber boy's rifles were manufactured using either cast or stamped steel parts and mostly slab-wood stocks and retailed for as little as $1.60. The company name was changed to C. J. Hamilton & Sons after Clarence died in 1902 and his son Coello took over the company.
