...Considering CCW holder's insurance ?
« on: May 17, 2023, 12:19:59 AM »
If you are, at least read the fine print.  I have not had experience with such a group, but does it seem reasonable that you could pay
just a few dollars a month, and then receive two or three hundred thousand dollars of free legal services, when that same lawyer
could be making that much cash, by serving somebody who does pay up front?

I don't know if it is relative, but I know one fellow who was an OTR trucker, and he got into a plan whereby he paid $XX per month,
so he would have pre paid legal defense, should he collect one of those very costly tickets.

Finally he did get one of those costly tickets, but when he contacted his "defense team", they gave him a pile of reasons why they could not appear in court to defend him..  Seems he would almost have to fight his "team", to get them to defend him.

In any case, it would seem prudent to give Massad a listen , if you are considering CCW insurance.

I don't really have time to watch the video. What is his opinion? I think I know because he works for one of the companies advertising it for them. It is one that pays darn little.

I have such a policy with USCCA and pay around $50 per month for $2.25 million worth of coverage. It pays the lawyer of my choice up front and as they build billiable hours on a case. It buys me a gun to replace the one the cops take that was used and pays for expert witnesses and lots of other things. If I am sued by the family afterward it pays for any judgement up to the amount of my insurance.

When working in law enforcement we called reserves "wanna bes". They wanted the badge and the image, but not the pay, and violence that sometimes went with it.

When I worked in sales for Harley Davidson, the "weekend bikers" were called "posers". They too, wanted the image, but avoided the real environment of the biker world.

Massad Ayoob is both "a wanna be", and a "poser". He's spent his entire life posing to be something he's never been. He's a gun rag writer that like Joe Biden plagiarizes real men's street experiences into "theories" that make him sound knowledgeable, and worth listening to.
He is not someone I'd look to for advice. So I didn't watch the video either.

I don't have, or intend to get insurance for such an event. If I'm unfortunate to get into such an event "again", I will trust my own judgement that it was forced on me, and we'll take it from there.

I don't know for sure
I recently heard that these CCW insurance
policies won't pay if the PTB thinks you were
in the wrong,  for example, if the DA is woke
and thinks you should have climbed out of a
window instead of shooting the stoned 16 year
old that kicked your door in at 3 AM

Don't know it for fact, just heard it on the radio
18 MINUTES.  . . . . . .

It's all about being in the right, and a jury can never be trusted. Its whatever lawyer puts on the best performance many times.
My personal plan is to stay out of bad areas, and pay attention to what is going on around you. If something doesn't look right, leave.

According to Ayoob..you had best read the 'fine print'.  He mentioned one case where the insurer's fine print said they would back out
if the CCW insured had "broken any other local laws", during the incident.
He claims the people he represent, are not exactly a "insurance", but more an "advice" group..   Any more info..you need to see the video..

Then the insurer claimed that by firing his gun, the insured party broke the local noise ordnance..so they wouldn't help him.  There
  were other incidents cited.

As I said earlier, the only experience I have observed was a truck driver who paid monthly for such protection...but when he needed
their help...all he got was a couple letters, givinbg excuses as to why they couldn't help him.

I suppose if a firm can get 10,000 subscribers at $50-$60 per month, and for the most part, just offer excuses for why they won't
help, that is quite a lump of easy cash in their pockets..
