Post is getting a little confusing.
I would like to know more about what keeps the firing pin from returning flush? The weak firing pin spring, right? But what will cause it to become weak? I have many guns that are 50 years old and still shoot fine- no weak pin springs! The Encore is only about 5 years old isn't it?
I've seen only around a dozen firing pin springs out of
Winchesters, Remingtons, and Rugers, only one having
a hammer. Out of those, the wire used to make the
firing pin spring in the Encore is a lot less diameter than
any of the others I've seen. Don't know if I'll ever find it
in the same size, but I'm looking for something a LOT
heftier!
T/C warns against dry firing, stating it will weaken the
spring, but mine was NEVER dry fired. Personally, I believe
the spring is pretty darned weak to begin with.
