looking at beers
« on: May 24, 2023, 12:26:37 AM »
EVERYTHING IS WOKE. there all either owned by anheuser or miller. that includes about all of them except labatts and old style that are owned by russians. they actually are probably laughing because we have no choice other then not drinking beer or paying twice as much from the smaller local brewery's. heck i even checked out coors papst strohs, blatz and about every other brand i could think of and checked them all out on line. even loan star a beer youd sure think is a good one is owned by papst which is owned by russians. the socialists have taken over what youd have thought would be a more conservative market and did it with none of us knowing they were doing it. we have a MI brewery down state called bells they make a lager and a few different ales. it tastes good but like i said twice the money my old style was and that brewery is in one of the most liberal areas in the state so i can picture a bunch of yuppies having one with there sushi!!!!! what happended to a PBR and a pack of Marlboros when i wasnt looking. now smoking isnt allowed and the queens and commys drink my beer

This is nothing new, or even close to new.
The large/r breweries have been merging for 30 years, while regional ones have shut down.
The original so-called micro-breweries are no longer micro (their using cans instead of bottles is a main reason I rarely buy any of theirs) some are now regional and the most sucessful have been bought out by national brands -- WHICH are now mostly international brands.

I used to drink a lot of Mexican Lagers but they are no longer owned by Mexcian companies.
Most often now I buy German/ic Lager as few of the newbies brew lager.

For what ever reason, my beer drinking was greatly reduced this past fall/winter, and even at that , I drink at most in a year (often determined by food I eat) three cases, which includes sharing with others.
Guess I need to eat more Chilli, Pizza and Tex-Mex. ;D

Lots of small micro brewery's in my area, and I buy from them.
I saw a big rolling rock sign outside a small distributor the other day, offering Rolling Rock at a reduced price. I guess because Anheuser Busch can't sell its Bud and Bud light garbage they are trying to push their other brands. My Nephew drank Landshark which is brewed by Anheuser Busch,  he quit buying it. Its wasn't a bad beer. It had a bit of a refreshing taste.  When rolling Rock was brewed in Latrobe Pa, that was all I drank. once it was sold o Anheuser Busch. I never bought another case.  When it was brewed by Latrobe brewery. A friend of mine's brother worked there. The brewery would give the employees the seconds. they were cases that the can may have had a defect. He would sell us the beer for $2 a case. Well the brewery found out employees were selling the beer for profit. So they stopped allowing them to take it.
Lots of small town micro brewerys are owned by hard working Americans that took a chance on starting a brewery. Those are the people I will support. Not the big woke beer companies.  I know some old mining towns that have a micro brewery in them, and I can guarantee they don't cater to yuppies. Nor do yuppies visit them. They are still drinking Bud, and Miller lite. Or any of the watered down beers they call lite beer.

There are still American owned and operated breweries out there, you just have to look for them.

while not being terribly interested or absorbed in the subject, it seems that in this area, back in  in the 1940s and 1950s, there were 3 or 4 large breweries servicing this end of my state..  One in Buffalo (Iroquois), another in Rochester (Genesee)..a somewhat smaller one in Dunkirk (Koch's) and another small one in Buffalo (Beck's)

Then came the 1960s and 1970s, when Genesee swallowed up or absorbed the other three brewers..

Then, along came the giants, Budweiser, Miller, LaBatts etc....and I don't know if Genesee is operating anymore, but around here, it is starting to
resemble Germany or Austria, in that each town of any size seems to have a "micro brewery" operating.

Are they any good?  I don't know..and I don't know that German beer is any good, while I lived there 2&1/2 years..

 Other folks claim it is..
