History note; Dolley Madison..

  What a remarkable lady !  She was known as being especially attractive, and accomplished in the role of first lady.

  She served as first lady, before she was first lady.  Thomas Jefferson, by time he took office, was widowed (in 1782).  SDo being part of the "Virginia presidents", he asked Dolley to serve in first lady details for him. So, when her husband was elected to replace Jefferson, she just continiued on in
  her duties.

  Her given name was Dorothea, Dolley being a nickname..and normally spelled wrong.

  In 1814, when the British burned the White House, Dolley saved the Gilbert Stuart painting of George washington, for future generations to enjoy.

 There once was an ice cream company that used her name to sell their product.  Some must have been in favor of it so much that
  somebody figures and empty box is worth $98..

  NOTE:  THe maker played it safe, spelling her name slightly different than did Dolley herself.

  Of course, we should not take too lightly, the example she set for first ladies.  Too bad, some have departed from such a dignified life that
    Dolley presented to the American public.
