We are inches below average and where I am at a severe drought, last rain forecast was an insult to weather men from the past.
Too late . for the farmers this year, enough dead fileds out there, but no rain, next year is going to be a more serious problem.

Back in the 1950's, this state had a drought of
like 7-10 years. I don't remember.
Several books written about that I've read.
Lots of farms and ranches ruined.
Lots of pear burners sold at the feed stores
and co-ops

   If youi live in Texas, I bvelieve I recall that season..  I lived there i 1956 and 1957, and I recall visiting a  friend's home area around San Angelo
  (in 1957)   and saw many ranches having to sell out.  The Llano river at Llano, has potholes in the rocky bottom, and the river was so low, that I caught alligator Gar fish with my hands from those potholes..and placed them into the feeble main stream, hoping they could perhaps survive that way.
