Look What Was In My Corrals This Mornin
« on: August 18, 2023, 09:11:23 AM »
There were about 25 including some babies. They were in the main corral which is about 50 yds by 75yds in size with 3 gates. I killed these 3 at about 15 to 20 yds as they ran for the gates. I hit several more but with a 9mm pistol not good enough.
All I had was my pistol and no spare magazine, but that part won't happen again. Can't really brag because I had 17 shots.
Ammo was plain old Winchester white box 147 grain jhps.

It was a good workout for me and my little Sig

That size ought to eat pretty good.

That is if they're not stinky and covered
with ticks and fleas and such
Feral swine are harder to clean than
deer, and you have to get em cooled
off pretty quickly

Don't know what the temperature is out
that way.  110F here right now

When I killed'em it was about 73 degrees, and if I'd had my AR I would've got another 8 or 9 of'em.

Nope! Even in this part of West Texas feral hogs are a nuisance. I'll call around and see if anyone wants one,  otherwise I'll pile'em up for coyote bait.

Pigs are smart.  Once they get trapped like that, they may not return.

The feral hogs here, if you shoot a momma
with piglets first, often times you can sit quietly
and the little stinkers will come back looking
for momma and and you can pick a few of
them off

The ranch owner will probably eventually have
to build a pen trap and try to put a dent in them.
They're very destructive and tear up the ground
and fences and whatever else can't move out
of the way. They've cost a lot of dollars worth
of damage
