I'm pretty sure I heard the "news " people say
that the governor of california signed some
kind of something that would make it to where
the fast food employees in that state would be
paid a minimum wage of $20.00 per hour

So I guess a family trying to eat at McSalty's
will be dropping a hundred bucks for an outing?
Or more?  I know a couple of wealthy people,
and they don't patronize McSalty's, so the
customers that they target won't be able to

  I have heard that the doofus governor we have, has done similar.  So now, when going out to 'have a bite', most go to a regular, local restaurant,
   since the cost is running about the same..

      We will see a great deal more automation being installed in fast food places.  It is happening already..

Yeah.  Somewhere along the line some pinhead forwarded
the notion that working at McSalty's or Taco Smell was supposed
to be a career and pay full time career wages.
They've had pictures on the registers at those places for years
so the illiterate border jumper women they hired could ring
you up without the need to be able to read or any other skills.
Just push the picture of the chicken nuggets and ring it up.
Now they're replacing the illiterate border jumpers with self
serve kiosks and soon the kitchen will be rid of border jumpers

My main reason for registering as a Republican is to be able to participate in the republican primary.
 Your state and mine have Closed primaries. I am basically an independent voter. A voter who believes in the Republican platform, but very few Republicans running for election. The Libertarian party has some good views, but some that I do not believe in. (Like open borders) They are a big threat to Trump in the general election, as are most independent voters. They know they have zero chance of winning, but take away votes who would line up more with The republican candidate. Ron and to some extent Rand Paul are Libertarians who ran as Republicans to win a seat.

  Yes, but I am a bit stubborn that way.  I was for a  time registered as a Republican, biut left when their rinos began taking over.

I wonder what the general trend is in hiring workers at McDonald's, Etc.. Illegal border jumpers? I suppose somewhere. In my part of PA, virtually all the workers are teens trying to make a buck, college kids adding a few dollars, middle aged moms defraying costs where they can. I do not remember the last time that I saw anyone working in one of those places who did not fit that description.
Maybe where you are things are different but you seem to paint with a pretty broad brush.
I do agree that $20/hr. seems a bit high.
Prices are up for sure. When was the last time you went to a pro baseball game and ordered a couple of hotdogs, some chips and a beer? Passing through Norfolk airport earlier today, I noticed that a breakfast sandwich was $14.

and board the places up.
( I've posted before) There was a brand new Carl's
Junior high end place built from scratch about a
mile away from here some years back.
Lots of grand opening banners and balloons etc.
Can't remember exactly how long it lasted, but
it wasn't very long. The building is boarded up
and turning into a an eyesore shambles
Fast food places like McSalty's and Booger Queen
and the like are supposed to be entry level
places for the unskilled and younger people
to learn the basics of following instructions and
consistency in your work, etc.
The things that used to be taught in the home
and public schools.
The clientele of a McSalty's will eventually go
elsewhere when the prices become unaffordable
and unacceptable for the average joe to pay

I won't make excuses for the silliness of
demanding exorbitant pay scales for an
entry level unskilled job

You and I may not attend. Lots of other people do. Average attendance at a MLB game in 2023 so far is better than 40K.
The NE Patriot average home game attendance in 2022 was more than 65K. Lots of beer and hotdogs.
