It's not the extractor buddy, it's the ejector (the part that's pinned into the frame). Lots of fellas switch to a 38 Super or 9mm ejector to cure that same problem, and sometimes some 1911s need the ejection port lowered just a bit in addition to a new ejector. My lightweight Colt Commander used to do exactly the same thing, until I installed a different extractor. I would come home after a range session and my wife could count the number of empties that had dinged the ol noggin just by counting the number of half moon dirt marks she could see on my forehead. You might be able to get your current ejector to eject the empties out at a different angle with a little gunsmithing work, if you can do it or if you have a competent 1911 gunsmith in your area who can do that work for you.
Also, put in a call to the Auto Ordnance folks, they may have a replacement that could cure the problem. Hope this helps. Mikey.
