Law enforcement today
« on: October 06, 2023, 07:33:30 AM »
Talking about the crime in this region here
with a couple of people

Why don't law enforcement officers have
batons or saps that can be used to convince
people to stop fighting and act civilized?
Years ago, if you tried to grapple around
with a L E.O. , they'd whack you as many
times as necessary to bring you to your
senses. A late friend of mine had a relative
in southern OK that was a ( policeman,
deputy?) and part of his carry was a
blackjack.  In that small town ( or county)
most everybody knew everybody else, and
if old jim bob the town boozer got out of
line and was kicking and punching and
such when being escorted from Mabel's
dance hall for trying to fight and tear up
everything and had a little too much hootch
that evening,  deputy Billy clyde would tap
him a few times to get his attention, and
drive jim bob home instead of going to
jail ,and in all likelihood would be remorseful
and see Mabel the next week and pay for
any broken fixtures etc..
That worked well for many years before I
was born.
And they would pepper an unruly mob with
buckshot or smaller shot and they absolutely
cease and desist and disburse with haste.

Shame to see all the pinheads that rule
the streets today

Well, hell you can't treat criminals like criminals.  Where's the equity in that?
Aim small, miss small!!!

People in general were better behaved and
civilized when actually being punished for
a punishable offense was a possibility

When I was a kid and spankings at
home by parents, and school paddlings
were not unusual, drive by shootings
were all but unheard of

Back in the early 80's,  I went to a gun
range with a much older co-worker.
He told me that it was his favorite place
to be because everybody was armed
and loaded up and were the most
polite people for 50 miles around
