End times/armageddon/apocalypse/ doomsday
« on: October 10, 2023, 11:06:39 AM »
Dadgum at the people using the
Israeli/terrorist war to predict the
"signs " of the end of the world
falling into place and that Christ
will be here on November the 48th
of this next year according to the
biblical codes they've just discovered,
and everybody should just sit at
home in the lazy boy and wait
until farcebook or yoofloob announces
that Jesus got here this morning
at 4:15 AM eastern time.
Or that it's time to strap on your
TAC vest and wait out in the driveway
for the seals to be broken so you
can cut loose and do magazine dumps
on your way out of the subdivision

I've been awaiting and dreading all the
junk emails and texts advertising the
ultimate end times Bible decoding book,
but surprisingly I haven't received any (yet).
Maybe there's a printing delay  ;D

You are going to hear more and more of that kind of efforts to gain credibility, along with readership and/or viewership.

   They are sinply opportunists.

As with any other account of current events..some sources are far more reliable than others....
,
By way of the Gaspee incident and the Boston Tea Party, the British were warned, before geting their butts kicked back from Concord to Boston.

Hitler wrote MEIN KAMPF and most of the world slept, Imperial Japan warned that if pressed too hard, war may result...and we were surprised by
   Pearl Harbor.

It has been said that there was plenty of warning of the first attack upon the World Trade center..but still our intelligence agencies snoozd.

Same is true insofar as Biblical prophesy..we can use our observational faculties, or we can snooze once again.

A lot of what I see reminds me of a while
back when the "end of the world is nigh
according to the (? whatever it was ancient
calendar?)" and all these people were coming
up with these off the wall statements/solutions.
I saw a whole bunch online that gave
the ultimate gear list for the end of the world,
and people that actually said that they were
going to board a plane and be airborne
as the world was ending ( where do you land?)

When the world ends, that means the world  :D  :D

Yes, they were propelled by som "ancient Aztec' so called prophesy, and looked silly in the end.  However, we can consider the one reliable source
that has been proven over the millennia.  Not that we should be led into doing foolish things, but simply being aware and ready.

    For instance...it won't hurt to be ready;

“But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those who are in the midst of her depart, and let not those who are in the country enter her.   (Luke 21:20-24)

  We should be aware and ready;

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.  And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.  They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:  But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.   (Matt 25:1-4)

Sure, there will be opportunists who write books and make videos etc., but why bother, when we have THE BOOK right in our hands ?

He would not have us ignorant;  https://www.christianity.com/bible/bible-verses-about-the-end-times-58

Well, it is closer to home than you guys realize.  My brother works maintenance at an apartment complex in my home town which is a college town.  He went to an apartment that the AC wasn't working to check it out.  No one was home after knocking and he used his master key to get in.  There was flight simulation software on the computer and bomb making equipment on the table.  Muslim students were renting the apartment.  This university teaches flying to get a pilots license at the local airport.  This is also football season with over 80,000 fans here on home games.  He told his supervisor and the next day 3 black US government SUV's showed up and emptied out the apartment.  He went back a day later and the students and all their stuff were gone.  This is in my home town.  This is close to home.

Also a few blocks from were I live about 10 years ago some Muslims were renting a house.  Someone in the house went outside and shot a gun in the air and was yelling something like Allah Ackbar.  The swat team surrounded the house and threw gas bombs in the house and broke down the door.  The house was vacant for quite some time while the had to take out carpet clean and repaint the house to get out the pepper smell.  This university has 33,000 students and many are foreign students.

My son rented out his duplex to Chinese nationals.  One lady had a pHd and worked in micro biology at the University.  Hmmm.  This was before Covid.  Also, almost all the construction jobs taken here are Hispanics digging ditches, framing, brick masons, sheet rock workers, etc.  How many may be criminals, drug smugglers using other Hispanics as cover, or even Muslims using this as cover.  We live in troublesome times.

We live in a nice neighborhood with no crime to speak of.  People jog, walk their dogs, etc. all the time.  We are not Dearborn, or Detroit, or Minnesota where a lot of Muslims live.  Prep and prepare.

. . I think it's like that just about everywhere.

It is and has been, only many choose
not to acknowledge it for various reasons.
I guess it offends their sensibilities, or
the thought of how violent and and emotionless
many can be in 2023 frightens people that
have wallowed in comfort for decades.
The gene that allows people to cope is
absent these days

Well, it is closer to home than you guys realize. . . .

No not really.
People have been speaking out and
writing about the very subject for years
only to be called paranoid and anarchist
and bigots and racists and supremacists
etc. etc.
Many just do not want to hear it because
they don't want to rock the boat or bad
things offend their delicate sensibilities
and they can't cope with adversity or
they're eaten up with guilt for whatever
reason.
It's easier to many to enable and make excuses

I know it is a popular thing to say.. We are told there are Biblically mentioned signs all around, but ignore that crap, no sense wasting your time
  considewring such "signs".

So we have heard what various among us has said, but what does Jesus say?  Red letters..Jesus said it..

"Watch therefore: for you know not what hour your Lord does come. Matthew 24:42"

"[2] He answered them, "When it is evening, you say, `It will be fair weather; for the sky is red. ' [3] And in the morning, `It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening. ' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

   And this...From Peter..

"3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,

4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (2 Pet 3:3-10)

Just me-  I hear and see so many apathetic and
indifferent people that I've got to where I don't try
to say anything anymore
I know a good many that will talk to me about
all the puzzle pieces falling into place, but they
don't/won't take the time to make the slightest
preparations for any of the doom they're
predicting/anticipating
I know many that think that if they buy enough
"operator " gear from slamazon, that they can
stand out in the driveway and hold off a half
a hundred slobbering allah acbars or antifas.
As many more plan on sitting in the lazyboy
drunk/stoned and anticipate some neato
end times star wars type something that they
can sit back and watch as it passes by

Oh well.  . . I can only worry about me

That may not be so out of place as it seems, since perhaps the bulk of Bible centered Christians believe in a pre-tribulation rapture.
In that situation, piling up "survivalist" goods and methods, would seem to be an exercise in futility.

If one is to be raptured out of this troubled world before the great tribulation starts, major preparations would be pointless.

We may yet be required to hold off attackers in certain situations, since the lead up to the tribulation may be gradual, so 'armed and ready'
  does make sense.
However the picture of somebody sitting around either drunk or stoned is incongruous with what any Christian should be doing.

The fields are "white to the harvest",  and we should be imparting Biblical knowledge...even here, plus exercising the "great commission".

   Here is a related, short dissertation from Liberty University;

   No point taking it out of context;

4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.  (1 THess 5:4-6)

......   And remember the old hermeneutics axiom..  "Wherever you see the word "therefore", look carefully...and see what it is truly there for."

I posted this under a different heading, but only got 13 views and no comments, so if you want some Bible truth short and sweet, this man gives it
to you.  Although he speaks in simple terms, he speaks truth from scripture.

Note: some of those events now taking place are unprecedented in all of history...spend less than a minute, and it is made clear why many serious
Bible students..are observing more closely than ever.

Although we cannot place any date/time, this man speaks from scriptures.  Less than a minute video.

A whole lot of people thought they knew when the end would happen. The Mayans, William Miller, Jim Jones, Branch Davidians, Heavens Gates, and Nostradamus. The only one who might get it right is Nostradamus. He says it wont be till 3786, or 3797. Since I don't think I'll last that long, I'll try and not lose to much sleep over it!

Armageddon will happen but not until certain  religious events must accrue first . a big one will be governmental removal of religion ,both iffy christion an pagon  .   even at that point God does not act .its not until the authority's make the move to remove the last of Chrisitan faith, that God does like ,does he act .

All those you listed are false prophets..and have been proven so.   Jesus told his followers to "watch and wait", because even He did not know
the day or hour of His return. That was reserved by the Father (Matt 24:36)...However, we know it will happen..

Yes, certain things will have to happen before he returns, and for 2,000 years people have have been anticipating and guessing...at His return.

A couple more recent fulfilments of prophecy, have boosted speculation  1) The rebirth of the nation of Israel in 1948  (Amos ch 9)

And even more cogent , with the development of trains, planes and automobiles, the Bible predicted that people will travel far more than ever in
history,  plus there wil be a veritable explosion of knowledge/technology.

Just review the last 2,000 years..an dconsider how, for the first 1850 years, things went along essentially the same, year to year...excluding a
   couple inventions (e.g. gunpowder).

Other than that..the first, fifth and twelfth and fifteenth centuries were socially, culturally and technologically similar.

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be
   increased"  (Daniel 12:4).

Which only indicates your ignorance of Biblical truths. So you cannot understand the doctriune of the trinity, others can understand, just ask

All those you listed are false prophets..and have been proven so.  Jesus told his followers to "watch and wait", because even He did not know
the day or hour of His return. That was reserved by the Father
(Matt 24:36)...However, we know it will happen..

I thought you believed in the trinity. Jesus is your God ,how could he not know ?

Which only indicates your ignorance of Biblical truths. So you cannot understand the doctriune of the trinity, others can understand, just ask

..But then again..you have been given scriptural truth and still reject it..so you destination is in your own hands..
