Little Brandin & Taggin This Mornin
« on: October 14, 2023, 01:22:54 AM »
Spent all week gathering cattle to get 6 out 50+. Finally got 53 head corralled yesterday morning and got those 6 out of that bunch.
These are 2 year old heifers I bought, plus calves I couldn't find during branding that were hidden in draws and mesquite thickets.
Won't take long I've got some good help, and it's 35 degrees this morning so it'll be more comfortable running that propane branding iron furnace.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

Should be a nice day according to
the weather guessers.
Don't forget some cotton balls to stick
in your nose   :D :D
Good Luck with it

Sounds like a lot of hassle, just put a nick in their ears.. Like Col Maverick was supposed to do...but didn't very often!  :D ;D
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

Ear tagging a bovine takes a fraction of
a second, especially when they're immobilized.
They're likely hide branding also because it's
a good idea. Tags get brittle and crumble,
get rubbed off, get torn out buy other livestock, etc.
A brand is there until it's steak and burger time.
I've helped lip tattoo before, but it's not very
efficient for cattle. It's no party tattooing a
lively horse

All true. A hot branding iron takes about 7 seconds, and an ear tag about 4. Not  to mention,  that your helpers are just a good group to be around. ;)
