t figure it to be a "trade off"..   We almost never get hurricanes, tornadoes or floods...and any earthquakes barely stir the water in a bowl.

Pick the problem of your choice...

My thoughts, when your having fun, even in the winter, doesn't bother you. Early 70's, into the 80's,  ice fishing on Lake Erie, snowmobiling, I enjoyed it. Now, driving on icy roads, shoveling driveway or steps. Not so much! >:(

We had a dusting in Mid-Minnesota, long gone.
Up North they had a few inches.

I always want snow for Christmas but this year, for the first time ever, not really a big thing.
Of course as the Christmas season goes on that may change.

Some thing is different this year, as far as my attitude goes, but then I did GREATLY enjoy Thanksgiving.
I will go out today and fire up the snow blower to see how well it runs.
Bad thing is the gent we purchased it, and many other such item from, passed away and find a place here that works on such machines is getting fewer and fewer.
A big one in my home town has been up for sale for years as the two boy do not want to keep it going, and it has been there as long as I have been alive. :(

The video above said "chaos" reigned.  I didn't see any chaos...just most folks driving with caution....and a few clowns.

I'm 78, will be 79 come spring. I've NEVER seen a white CHRISTmas in my life time here in the deep south of Alabama.

businesses are screaming up here. we usually have enough snow for the snowmobilers to descend on us in mass. what we go is mostly gone. ski hills opened last week but they have snow making machines. odd thing youd never expect is Christmas. youd think people would stay home but motels are book a year in advance for Christmas and most of winter. so no snow and those idiots threw away 100s of dollars. my nieces resort is booked solid now till spring. 500 bucks a night for a small one room cabin. worse i saw it was back when i raced. one winter they couldnt have the first race till jan 14th and by the end of the day we were racing on dirt. team had 3 sleds and all three of them had to have new tracks and skis and there suspensions rebuilt that week.

The low to no snow years of the early to mid-seventies?

The event that reduced the snowmobile industry from a dozen or so makers to just a handful in very few years.

Rain came, most of the snow now gone...but it will soon be back.  Nearby slopes making snow..so it will become a solid base, no matter.

i remember one year back then that they canceled the whole season because people struggled to find enough gas to get to work let alone race. i had to go and get gas on my days with a can and give half of it to dad for work and the other half went in my car. only gas i had for snowmobiles came from my girl friend. they lived across the road from the school and her dad was the principal there and they didnt need much gas. but even then i only had about 5 gallons a week and some of that went in the car too. having a 440 gtx in the gas crunch wasnt the most practical thing. i think those gas problem years did more to about destroy in industry than anything else. i still rember before all of that dealerships every where. guys had one car garages that were dealers. if you could buy 5 sleds they gave you a sign and papers sell 4 of them for the company and the 5th was yours. must have been a dozen dealers in our small town. dads next door neighbor had the biggest in a 2 car garage and always had sleds. he sold rupp till they went out of business then sold sno jets. only real dealers were in the big town up here, marquette. there youd find artic cat, polaris and ski doo. they had actual show rooms. they say there was over 250 brands of snowmobiles ever made and at one time (i forget the year but it was early 70s) there was over 200 made in the same year. more brands  of snowmobiles in that year then there has probably been car brands in the us since the first car sold. pretty amazing
