Is this common? I have a t\c system 1 in .54 cal, and a t\c thunderhawk in 50 cal. I've tried a few different factory sabot combos, and I have to beat each slug down the barrel. Whenever I question the manufacturer the answer is always a dirty barrel. Before and after shooting I scrub the bore with hot soapy water, and a brush. Am I leaving out something?
Does anyone have a sabot combo they could recommend that will load better. I started shooting powerbelts just so I could spare my ramrods.
I'd like to try the Knight red hots, but I'm afraid they won't be any better.
It seems to me the slugs are too big for the sabots.

You'll need to mic your bore. Cecil at prbullet.com has sabots in different tolerance ranges for different bore dimensions.

Just tell him you a couple of "tight barreled Thompsons."

Kcarp, I have had the same problems with factory/bullet combinations. What will fit in my Remington will not even come close to going down the Austin and Hallecks.

I have found for me that the TC Mag sabots are the, for the lack of a better word. slimmest sabot I have been abe to buy of the supermarket rack. They will go down the A&H's just right but are to loose in everything else I own. Noslers sabots have worked really well for me in all of my other ML's

I, personally have found that most TC barrels are really tight, other than the Green Mountain barreled TC that I own.
