Don't know how many have been paying attention to what's been happening in Illinois. Last Jan. the governor issued a law that everyone had to register mainly their AR, and anything even related to the AR platform.  Back in 1968 everyone that wanted to own any firearm had to have a FOID card ( Firearm owners ID) Which includes your name, address, SS#, and phone number. So the Illinois government knows all the owners of a FOID card, and can assume each own at least one firearm. The deadline for registering your firearm was Jan 1, 2024. From what I've read only about 1 to 4 percent registered their AR.  There is only one reason for a registry, and that's for the government to later confiscate firearms. Have to wonder how the FOID cards will come into play.
There is also a ban on the sale of any semiauto rifle, certain magazines, and attachments.  So far the SCOTUS has refused to look at the law and rule.

Not a good deal for anyone but the government. Hope it gets over ruled in the courts.

If this somehow works out for the Illinois government. You can bet that other states will follow suit. States like New Jersey, New York, California, and Washington come to mind.

The voters of Illinois elected their governor, and got what they asked for.

 Remember setting up at the gun show they had in Milwaukee a couple times. Many years back. Stayed at a friends house, and when we got to the show about an hour before it opened on Saturday, walking in, just about every car in the parking lot waiting for the show to open, was from Illinois. When I mentioned it, he laughed, said they come up here so they don't have to use their FOID card to buy ammo. Never heard of it, and when he told me what it was for, I had to chuckle too! Wonder if they check all those gang bangers in Chicago if they used their FOID card to buy their ammo!!

  Illinois is a good state, with millions of decent small town and farming families.  However, these good folks suffer from the same malady that
  Many states suffer from.  Each has some dominant  city which overwhelms the sensible folks votes during th eleection process.

  Sure, those big cities will vote for any cadaver the Democrats can prop up against the wall, but I would be quite hesitant to criticize all the voters
    in any state, for the manner in which a dominant city votes.

  I consider folks who live in such places as ..Birch Run, MI...  Rudolph, WI...Little Pine, MN.. Farmersville, NY... West Wenatchee, WA.. or Trout Creek, OR..

  Likely, due to their demographics, they may vote very conservatively. I can vouch for the good people inm Farmersville, NY..since Farmersville
  is in my corner of our "Constitutional County", I know many of the folks there..who vote overwhelmingly conservative, (except for the Amish, who don't vote)..

After the Jan 1 deadline for registering guns and other items required to be registered. About 6,000 more people registered, and that number came about 8 days ago. Go figure!

The entire country knows that cities like Chicago are democratic controlled, and are dangerous shooting galleries, but these dumbass states still vote majority democratic.

They got what they voted for.

Y'all do remember that we had this conversation some time ago....right?  It centered around about 95% of Illinois sheriff's NOT actively enforcing the law, and telling that same governor they weren't going to.

  My neighbor once had an old bluetick hound, siupposed to be a coon hound.  Somehow that old hound never could sort out coon smell from deer smell.

   Some folks just don't "get it", the red/blue diuvide is not by state borders..but rather by counties..
