A reminder for everyone to double
check your inventory of ammo and/or
components to make sure you actually
have what you think you have.
For a while now I've been culling
things that I can no longer use, or
haven't used of everything, but especially
things I use for hunting and fishing
and camping. I've got rid of some
dies for things I no longer own or
load for, and other assorted items.
Not too awful long ago I had ( thought)
I loaded all my empty cases for 38
special and 357 magnum, and I
realized I didn't have the amount of
38 special ammunition that I wanted
to have on hand, but I didn't have any
more cases other than some mixed
in some brown paper bags.
I thought about it some more this last
week and I thought I'd go sort and
inspect what I have, and I found a
quantity that I guess I "hid" for a
rainy day. Have a decent quantity of
mixed new and once fireds that I'll
have to get busy and put together.
I had a similar situation a while back
with shotshells after I gifted a couple
of relatives after they'd received new
shotguns. I don't know if I just didn't
have the amount of ammunition before
I shared some with them, or exactly what.
I was thinking I had a case of one particular
field load, but I did not.
I have thought about putting together
some kind of ammunition inventory
log, but just looking at it seems like
too big of a job. It'd be nice to know
exactly how much of what I actually
have, but it'd have to be a precise
detailed log to do what I would want
it for
