FREE FLOATING RIMFIRES!

Can anyone tell me if you free float a Rimfire does it inprove or ruin how accurate the rifle is? I understand that pressure points on rimfire rifle barrels may be there for a reason. Just thinking if i should free float my CZ 452 because i cant slide a $bill between. :D

:-) Somehow, I don't think a 22 falls into the same class as an SKS when it comes to barrel heating, unless you fire a whole bunch of shots real fast.  Probably, the question involves how's it shooting now.  If it's accurate, then I'd leave it alone, if it's not, might be a question of the rifle's ammo preference.  22's can be real picky about which brand of ammo they'll shoot.  If none of the above apply, then I guess free floating is an alternative.  I've owned(an own) some very accurate 22's in my time; none of which had freefloated barrels.

Thanks for the replies guys! My CZ shoots good now but my friend has done it to his 22 and he shoots holes on top of each other at 50m. Just wondering if anyone has done it to their CZ 452 :D

Floating the barrel may be the answer to your accuracy problems, but before you go through the expence or labor ( your choice) I would look at the ammunition that you are using first. If you went to a couple of sporting goods stores and purchace a box of each brand and type of shell that they offer and try them in your gun I would bet that you can find a round that your gun likes.
It has worked for me . 10 shots = 1 hole . Good luck

Well i went and Floated it. WOW! The rifle shot pretty well before but now! I shot 19 rabbits through the eye ball in a row! This was under spotlight though. Only missed number 20 because he moved at the last second. Still hit him in the head though. Most shots were at 50-70m.  On paper it shoots like my mates rifle. Well worth the effort.
Thanks guys!
