Cabrini..
« on: April 23, 2024, 03:15:37 AM »
As I mentioned in the photos and camera forum, mny son had prepared some portfolios for young ladies who were selected to act inn the new,
   upcoming movie called CABRINI..

With that info, my curiosity was aroused.  Who was Cabrini..and what did she do?  I found that Mother Cabrini was a self sacrificing lady who founded
some 67 schools, hospitals and orphanages. She died in Chicago in 1917, and was declared a "saint" by the RC Church..

 Now, for a weird twist..

Somehow her body is mummified, and kept on display, in an out of the way place in NY City..  Evidently a fine lady, but hat seems
 a bit macabre to me..

Yes weird.
Quote
In 1933, her body was exhumed and divided as part of the process toward sainthood. At that time, her head was removed and is preserved in the chapel of the congregation's international motherhouse in Rome. Her heart is preserved in Codogno, where she founded her missionary order. An arm bone is at her national shrine in Chicago. Most of the rest of her body is at her major shrine in New York.[14]

I am sure if I searched my Mother's religious library I could find a book that tell why the RC do/did such odd things, but it just seems wierd to me.

Perhaps if we check, there are 2 or 3 heads of John the baptist and 4 tons of the "original cross" held in various patrts of the world..

Indeed strange and difficult to decipher.

Perhaps yet more strange, is the practice of a sect in the Phillipines who crucify one another each year around Easter time..

Observing that Jesus already suffered crucifixion to pay for all sins for all time (Hebrews 10:12), to me this is making a mockery, implying that Jesus'
    sacrifice was not quite sufficient.

There is an informative article available on Wikipedia concerning the RC church’s veneration of relics.
