I never had the need for a griddle
that size. A good while back I had
a cast iron flat griddle about 12X24
that I would sometimes use on a
gas grill when I had one, but it
mostly got used on a Coleman-type
camp stove I had for hunting, fishing,
and camping trips when we had a
decent sized party along.
Not exactly sure what happened to it,
but I'm thinking that it went with
some other stuff during a break in
when I lost a good bit of stuff.
I have a smaller round stove top
sized one I've been using for a
good while now. (12 inch?)
One of those made like an iron
skillet with a handle, but no sides.
Can't remember where exactly, I
stumbled onto a stack of them
on a clearance rack for a bit
over $3.00 apiece. I bought all
of em, and gave all but this one
away to friends and family.
Useful piece to have for the
kitchen. I've made a gazillion
sandwiches on it

Not exactly sure what the cooking
surface is on those big nice units
whether it's steel or iron.
Either way, the key is continual use.
The more you use it the better it will get
Good Luck with it

Bought one two weeks ago , just in case the power goes out I can still  cook a meal .   I  changed out the connection to the 1 lb. coleman  bottle   to  a 20 lb. tank .  It gets hotter quicker than my electric stove which I like . I got the 22''  model with wheels so I can roll it outside .  I cant cook like they show on their  commercials  but  good enough not to starve .

mines a 28" 4 burner and like you said it gets hot. tried it last night with a sirloin. did like they said and ran it wide opec @500 degrees. put down a bit of olive oil and layed them down for three minutes then flipped them over and did 3 minutes on that side and put a pat of butter on the done side. came out about med rare to medium which is exactly how we like them. they had a perfect crust and the wife said its the best sirloin we ever had. just for comparison sake i used sirloin. the night before the family met at the new texas steak house in a neighboring town and i had a sirloin and honestly the one on the blackstone put it to shame. but then we buy or whole beef every year from a guy that sells the best beef ive ever ate. so my sirloin probably started more tender and a higher quality. the texas steak house had a decent steak. good enough that i would never have said it lacked if i wouldnt have cooked these on the blackstone

Ive had one for about 3 years now, and like it. I love to do smash burgers on it. They cook quick and the burgers have a crispiness on the outside. Potatoes, onions, peppers, and sasauge do well on it too.

Not sure what I had on my mind, but
after mulling it over the camp stoves
I've had are probably 20 inches on
the outside at best, so the griddle I
had had to have been probably 18
inches lengthwise or less   :o   :o
