Ideal reloading tool
« on: March 26, 2004, 12:43:19 PM »
:?    A fellow at my shop just showed me a old tool. He had no idea what it was for, but as a tool maker he thought that I might;
     WELL I do, but I don't know what it is worth .  Here is what I think it is ;
    It is a Ideal nutcracker reloading tool with a bullet mould built as part of the tool.  STAMPINGS on the tool are as follows;  Ideal MFGCO,  New Haven  Conn.            32-40          Pat  FEB 11 & DEC 23  - 84     and it has alot of old red paint still on it.

      I have the tool  and could take pictures if anyone is intersted in it. ( it's not for Sale)  (he won't even sell it to me)

There are now several of these simular tools on e-bay in various calibers.   :grin:   It just seems that the one that I would like, so does everyone else and it goes for more than I have to spend. :cry:
Thanks,

The caliber seems to have a lot to do with the value of the old ones, a 45-70 will go for much more than say a 25-20.

These other guys assume that you know what it is.  It's an Ideal loading tool for the .32-40 Winchester.  It's a somewhat unusual caliber anymore.  You can check it's value by watching similar items on e-bay.

DLH,
I couldn't tell what tool (#1-#10) it is from your description but you should be able to match up the pictures on this web site.

My guess is that it's a #5 from your description.
