back surgery number 9

aug 5th to fuse another level. back surgery #9 for me and the 19th surgery since i was injured in the service. i swore to my wife i was going to go a year without being cut on but the pain has been brutal and im lucky to get 2 hours in a row of sleep. its to the point i dont have a choice other than to go back to the days i ate narcotics like m&m's and honestly id prefer the pain.

Praying for a successful surgery, and a speedy recovery.

Pray this will be the last your forced to have an operation due to the severe pain.
Not to derail but maybe taking the pain meds will help you recover in a better
less stressful way.
Not OxyContin or similar but some sort !!!
I would hope the doctor would be able to offer something they your willing to take
When I was recovering from cancer they gave me Demerol
It made me a mess strange as it may sound they switched to morphine
It’s was a miracle I also did not become addicted
I asked please after all this I Don’t want to be drug addicted
He said Take it only when necessary and you won’t get addicted

He was right
I hope and pray they do their job correctly and wish you God Speed Recovery

i know they are an option for some but i took oxy and always had a bottle of morphine for over 10 years after the incident that caused this. i didnt quit because i was addicted because quiting didnt give me any problems. i just was sick of living in a fog and was concerned i could hurt someone else at work. ive got a running script for Tylenol 3 but rarely take them. they dont do any more than advil and constipate me and that sucks.  this has been going on for over 40 years and ive just learned not to let pain control me. ive always had constant pain that would have most crying to mommy. thats why i laugh when someone claims pot cures their pain. if it does they have a bit of soreness and dont have a clue what chronic pian is. believe me in 40 years ive tried everything. every drug legal and not so legal. booze, acupuncture, chiropractors and nothing stops it. i get some relief usualy after surgery. pain goes from a 7 (most would say 10) to a 4 or 5 for a year then it just creeps back till it effects my mobility and chair bounds me and i try again. surgeon told me that my future options are drying up and soon he wont be able to help.  im not pissing and moaning im 68 and still am stronger than most 30 year olds and my wife says she needs to tie me down. just gets me when my buddys want to go on a long ride on side by sides or the harleys because i just cant do it anymore even on good days. but God has blessed me with a good life that ive done far more to have fun than the average guy. i asked my surgeon if i should slow down and take it easy and he siad Lloyd if you did it would kill you. hes more than my surgeon. hes become my friend, fishing partner and one of my harley buddys. so no sympathy for me. theres many here that deserve that more than i do..

I can sympathize about the morphine.
I had a good bit of it during my last
hospital stay. It was a godsend and a
miracle at first, but after that anesthesia
was dwindling away, there was more
electric shock type pains and edginess
as the days passed.  The sleep I did
get at first with the morphine was pure
bliss and resting-on-a-cloud-the-sky
type rest.  I don't recall sleeping that
good or at that long of a time since.
If I get a couple of hours at a time now
and can realign and drop back off
I'm golden
