Has any body see or shot this one yet? I got to fondle one the other nite and fell in love. It an L Frame Smith that weights less than most 38`s and still fires the .44 mags. Several guy I know have got to fire it and most had all they wanted with 1 shot, but with .44 Spec. it should make a great carry gun.

I ran aross a guy last week that had one and he let me try it. With low to mid level 44 mag loads it pops you pretty good but its something you'll carry a lot and shoot a little. Its actually an N frame and though S&W will tell you they don't,the S&W 500 magnum "Sorbathane" grips will fit it and do a better job than the Hogues it comes with. After shooting one I "had to have" and found one with 100 rds fired, the 500 grips,+ the Hogue and Ahrends, AND Milt Sparks PMK holster, for less than I'd pay new for the gun. S&W recommends only factory level loads,180-240 gr,but that suits my needs just fine. Beats lugging around my Blackhawks. Will have it around the 15th or so.

A friend of mine wants the PD also; it'd be great to carry, if you don't hurt yourself after the first shot -- 26 ounces for a .44 Mag??  Ouch...
Life was so much simpler when I thought I knew everything...

Have a 329pd - agree with everything above, cannot add anything - got the 500 grips - love the Ahrens grips - this revolver is fast on target with the v notch sights and fiber optics.  Planning on a trigger / action job after a few hundred more rounds.  Working on loads that are heavy 44 special and light magnums.

Also bought two 325pds (45 acp revolvers) and they are great.

:cb2: OK, I'm confused. Are the "500 grips" and the "Ahrens grips" the same?

I need a bucket to catch the drool when ever I look at that thing. Heard from two owners that it will really rock your world with full .44 mag loads. However, this is the first I have heard about putting the 500 grip on the 329. Who can you get the grips from? How much? I want one real bad!

No the ahrens grips are the wood finger groove type grips that come with the gun. They'r purtier and alright for 44 spl and lite mag loads but the hogues and 500 grips do a much better job for the heavier stuff. Click on "Firearm Accessories" under Shop Online at  http://home.smith-wesson.com/  For plinking they'r well worth the $35!

:cb2: Nanook: As much as I love .44s (I have four so far), and really want that 329PD (not that I really need it), the 325 PD seems much more practical. Since you have two of them now, how do you like them? How do you clean them? And what do you carry the moon clips in?

The 325 would be best for personal protection, that 329 best for hunting back up, and is very "practical"  i.e. you would carry a lot and shoot a little.

I love both of them.  Clean them with Break Free and that stuff Jackfish recommends, for the barrel, like shaving cream - no brushes.

Been carrying moon clips in a speed loader - can stack two on each holder, i.e. a two speed loader holder would hold four moon clips.  Got a mooner and a de-mooner tool - a must.

I think you too need both???

I'm not familiar with the shaving cream stuff. What's it called?

(Think I'll save up for the 325 first!)
