Hurricane Helene
« on: September 29, 2024, 02:43:36 AM »
One of my grandsons was going to have his wedding in the hardest hit area of the North Carolina mountains in 3 weeks.  Roads washed out, power out, many stranded in the mountains.  Then, I have a daughters in Augusta, Georgia, and in Savannah, Georgia.  The one in Augusta, has a generator that can run off gasoline, propane, or natural gas, so they can power about half their house.  She has natural gas for cooking, clothes drying, etc.  However they are running the generator off propane.  She was told they wouldn't have power until October the 12.  Then the one in Savannah is staying at a hotel with her husband and two kids.  (She home schools, so kids can continue learning).  They are fine.  I taught them to prep.  They have enough gasoline if they had to they can come home to Alabama if the roads are passable if need be.

Now, from what we have read and have seen on news.  The US.gov has a list of counties without power, and it stretches from North Florida to North Carolina big time, and includes some in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio.  This storm brought tons of rain to the already soaked southern Appalachian mountains, and is causing massive flooding.  This storm also swiped through the most RED areas of all the states.  I hope and pray that these people can get power back on ASAP and get washed out roads at least with temporary repairs.  If not, this could affect the total votes Trump could get from these states.

Keep these hurricane victims in your prayers.

Had to drive through Augusta Friday evening, pretty scary. Getting dark and all traffic lights were out with heavy traffic. Trees still falling from behind loosened by the wind and rain. No cell service, lost GPS outside of Augusta. Power lines down everywhere. I-20 East blocked for miles for fallen trees. Glad I had enough gas to get me back to middle GA.
