Watching movies
« on: November 30, 2024, 11:47:54 AM »
Since many of the (actors)? Have shown their wokeness, I can’t enjoy shows as in the past, when watching I keep picturing the lunacy they’ve portrayed. Has to have costed their employers much profit by their public displays. Wonder if there has been a breach of contract they can be sued for?

I long ago came to that conclusion.  Seeing the same face portrayed as a detective, soldier, lawyer, doctor or a football player, always seemed to be a
   downer for me.

I guess some folks can put that out of mind, and pretend to themselves that the movie is somehow plausible..   I can't..

..But then,  I can better understand how they can become confused.  Since they spend their lives, pretending they are someone other than
themselves, they probably think they are all their "characters" wrapped up in one..and thus have an upper hand on everybody else.

Here, Sharon Stone calls most Americans stupid..  A couple short clips...

Alec Baldwin does the same..  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKcmUaFA77A

Actor, not only pushing their political stance but dissing those who disagree, has made hard for me to rewatch movies I greatly enjoyed at one time.

Thiry  years ago, we went to a movie theater, at least 40 weekends a year, now if we go to more than two movies a year, it is odd.
I love going to a theater as much for the popcorn , pop and candy as the movie.
Oh well, life goes on. 8)

I do not enjoy most newer movies.  Yes I know many do enjoy them, to include my son and his wife along with some grandkids.

Generally, if I am going to view a movie, it will be an old one..which I can view at home and make my own popcorn.. :D ;D

I read very little fiction and with movies, prefer fact filled documentaries or reliably historical films.  Seems like too much fantasy, si-fi etc.,
   to keep my attention.

Of course that may just be the current trend, since there were such "trends" before in the movie industry.

There have been quasi historical films.. Quo Vadis, The Robe, The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur..to name a few.

Then there were the "cowboy/frontier years"..

The cowboy/frontier years produced some classics..such as High Noon, Shane and True Grit..  I consider these three to be just about the best
  cowboy/frontier movies.

Do you have some you figure to be better in the cowboy/frontier movies ?

I finally watched buster scruggs and it was the best I’ve seen in awhile. I used to enjoy movie theaters and the great snacking experience with anticipation for the “ feature presentation “ as far as alec baldwin, robert deniro, and Sharon stone go, they seem to be a common representation of much of Hollywood. They just suck…

I saw Buster Scruggs a few years back and did not know it was not filmed until 2018.

There are still entertaining Westerns being made but I rarely pay for the extra money to watch networks that show them and unless you live in a city with theaters that show minor relieases, you can only watch them on TV, and watch on TV is NOT the wonderful experience of a good theater.
I still like dramas, detectives shows but science fiction which I used to love has been replaced by Science Fantasy whichis mostly BS, as science has near nothing to do with it.

Now I do like movies that are absurd, the movie Airplane was one of them that got the genre rolling.
I also do, or did till them became full of liberal bs, like animated movies that use anthropomorphism, where human nature is transposed on critters.

I like real history but in my later years as I learn just how truly horrid human nature, especially in this country formed by Christains, really is.
The minorities in this country are now exposing occurance that I did not learn i school, and the attitude of Christian Preacher was far, far, far from anthing that even remotely mimicked Jesus.
BUT
Without that part of human nature this country would now probably look more like Africa, where tradition over-rule morals, or local morals over rule human decensy.

Sadly new movies that do show what so many want to hide in our past, are also ones that get no acadamy awards, or whose actor/esses seem to be quickly forgotten.
Of course they many time show how God was a Huge part of this countries success.

Those are excellent westerns, but Clint Eastwood, Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner have made some excellent ones as well.  The Outlaw Josie Wales, Unforgiven, Open Range and others.

Outlaw Josey Wales is one of my all time favorites. As an actor Eastwood had extreme talent.

I totally agree. I won’t watch certain movies because I don’t want to support certain actors lifestyles. I feel the same about musicians. Some I can’t enjoy listening to anymore because they won’t keep their insane politics to themselves.
