I think we are on the same page there.

But the real 40 year old gun  has changed in those years.

I get it. When I get on my '96 Sportster, sure doesn't seem like it's almost 30 years old.

40 years from now there's a good chance the glock is still carried by police and militarys. could possibly be the pistol of the ages. pretty? nope but the best fighting handgun ever produced.

Have to agree with Lloyd on this one. Besides, women love a guy with a big glock...

The locking block on Glocks is the weak point, now you can buy spare parts but 20 years ago, if it broke you had to send the gun back to Glock.
So carrying at least one is a good idea.

dont know. ive put 100000s of rounds through my glocks and never had one break. i kept track of round counts for many years and quit counting probably 10 years ago. at the time my main 22 (ive got 2 of them because in my opinion they are the best fighting gun ever made) that gun had 80k on it and the only thing i did to it is a recoil spring at 50k that wasnt even giving me problems. that gun has never once choked on anything. its shot many different cast and jacket loads. never once a misfeed or breakage. i own 14 glocks and some of the others by now have similar round counts. ive torture tested them running 10k without even cleaning or oiling them. NONE have broke a thing.

i was a big 1911 guy 30 years ago and laughed at glocks. ive had what i consider great 1911s. still own a couple. but if not kept very clean and oiled even the best of them occasionally choke or dont handle certain cast bullets or loads. truth is my glocks have been more reliable than even my revolvers or for that matter my marlin and Winchester lever guns. now there are other good ones like sigs, m&ps ect. but anyone claiming a glock is a problem gun just hasnt put rounds down range. you dont have to take my word for it. its the most chosen handgun for militarys and police all over the world. for dammed good reasons. theres nothing that runs better even at twice the price. ill put it this way. ive got a drawer full of 1911 parts and the only glock parts i have are recoil springs and some trigger parts i pulled out of a couple of them to upgrade triggers. i dont even bother with that any more. no need for a 3ld trigger on a fighting gun and putting one in it may lead to you answering questions in court if you have to use it. imo if you dont own one for a main defense gun or something simular you need to address how much your family means to you. for the most part the same bashers hate ar15s. just like the glock your not going to spend a better 500 bucks if staying alive or your wife or kids lives are actually important.

you dont need 14 glocks or 16 ars like me but any real gun guy should have one of each even if they collect dust while you shoot you single actions and lever guns. if for no other reason than sometime in the future you grandkids or great grandkids will have a REAL NEED and probably wont be able to buy one. both of my great grandsons were gifted a basic ar and a glock 19 the day they were born. ive seen people on here claim you need gold or silver or food to survive but if you cant defend gold its no better than a small rock. guess im talking to a wall though. most of us here are 60+ and if you havent figured that out or believe some internet expert bashing them im sure not going to change your mind.

The reason I never owned a glock is because of the way they fit, and feel in my hand. Not that I don't think they are a well made and reliable pistol.

Due to major nerve issues all over my body I have lost pretty much all feeling in the tips of my fingers. As a result of that I cannot take down a Glock. I just cannot feel those little tabs and cannot pull them down to take down a Glock.

As a result I sold all of my Glock guns and I had a bunch at the time. I think the only thing I have left from them are 10-12 G22 brand new magazines. I've listed them for sale numerous times and couldn't find anyone interested no matter how low I went on the price to almost give away pricing. So I just stuck them in a drawer and forgot about them.

I admit being tempted to pick up another used G22 just to have a use for the magazines but I really don't like Glocks and much prefer S&W M&Ps which I have a bunch of.

Same here. Last time I shot a Glock was probably mid 90's.Just didn't feel right, like trying to grip a 2x4. Got an M&P with the interchangable back strap when they first came out, fit my hand better. Still have it. Maybe some of the newer Glocks might feel better, but at this point in time, I'll stick with what I got.

I rather like Glock...except for one thing...

Being plastic, it can be smuggled in airplane luggage, because the Xray won't pick it up.

That must be true, since the MSM said it was true...

I still have some guns with slides, but have returned to the old wheel guns in my smaller arsenal of late. I cannot think and move fast enough to work all those moving parts anymore. I never could see all the fuss about a Glick. They are a pretty good pistol, but so are many others.

i know a guy probably wouldnt carry one in the field but https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804374504923.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa4itemAdapt. bill i think i bought some 22 mags from you. id buy the rest but its to the point my wife calls me a mag junky. ive probably got 300 various mags in the gun room and thats probably a conservative number.

m&p definitely feels better in the hand. i used to think glocks felt like 2x4s too. but after MANY MANY thousand rounds they have become what feels natural and points instinctively for me. just shows you that you cant buy skill or familiarity you have to work and earn that. doesnt much matter if a gun feels good in the hand. what matters is when shtf it WORKS and its so familiar to you that its just another hand you brain controls. newer glocks dont feel enough different to even mention it. now the psa dagger glock clone is a vast improvement in feel if thats important to you. my dagger has been a good gun so far but im not selling glocks to buy more. i do have a number of m&ps and there a good gun too. probably the best bang for the buck on the market. but that said if the worlds falling down around me ill have a glock on my hip and most likely a 22. if i have to hide it probably my 30. we can pretend to be experts but the real experts have made the glock the first choice in a combat weapon all over the world. if or undertrained woke army understood that the real safety on a gun is between your ears it most likely would have beat the sig and been our sidearm too. glock realized that a safety on a fighting handgun is nuts and refused to do it.

Had a Gen 2 17 that did the nose curl thing on me. Turned me off to plastic guns for a while. Got over that after 10 years and now own a 48 :)

Special operations require versatile, dependable pistols that must be action ready under extreme ambient and weather conditions..

And I believe there must be a reason why the Navy Seals use the Glock (48) and my grandson's old unit, the Marine Raiders, use the Glock (19) also..

dam right there is. when someone is shooting at you and you have one shot to neutralize them or be killed 90 percent of world would choose a glock. its why i scratch my head that every time there brought up on a forum (not just this one) some know it all will bash them not realizing it only makes them look stupid
