A pistol or a shotgun makes a pretty good firework if pointed in a safe direction

As usual, I just went about my business, not thinking about the calendar.  I normally hit the sack at about midnight..and read for a half hour or so.

Last night, I finished reading THE DRAGON PROPHESY..by Jonathan Cahn.and didn't even think about the date.

Must be others around here were in the same mood, since I wasn't reminded by any fireworks etc.

Happy New Year everyone. As far as celebrating lots of stupid people shoot their firearms into the air, without any thought where the bullet will fall.  Reminds me of an instance back in 2012. A hunter in Millersburg Ohio discharged his muzzle loader to unload it. He obviously had the muzzle pointed to the sky, because the ball traveled a mile, and hit a 15 year old Amish girl in the head while in a horse drawn buggy. Killing her.

No fireworks or gunfire in my neighborhood.

Many years ago a neighbor was squirrel hunting with a .22.  That evening he learned that a bullet had broken through the LR window of his aunt.

If a firearm is fired straigt up, the bullet does not fall with enough velocity to kill , or cause more than a nasty bruise.
NO ONE should ever empty a firearm by firing it at an angle of any sort.

On New Year's Eve, mu fathre used to go outside and fire his shotgun straight up, then he said listen, you could here the pellets falling back through the Elm Tree.

Celebratory gunfire we want to avoid...

   I guess he didn't want to deal with a father-in-law.    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wljpl_lQtLU

I thought Bride's face looked OK before the celebratory gunfire.     https://www.youtube.com/shorts/u5IDs_1rG04
