Authorities say the driver of a pickup truck sped through a crowd of pedestrians gathered on New Orleans’ bustling French Quarter district early on New Year's Day, killing 10 people and injuring 30 other revelers.

The attack occurred on Bourbon Street, known worldwide as one of the largest destinations for New Year’s Eve parties, and with crowds in the city in anticipation of the Sugar Bowl college football playoff game later Wednesday at the nearby Superdome.

Here’s what we know about the attack:

Police said the driver sped through a crowd along Bourbon Street around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday as revelers had gathered to celebrate the start of the New Year. Ten people were killed and 30 were injured and taken to five local hospitals.

Police Commissioner Anne Kirkpatrick said the driver was “hell-bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did” and he tried "to run over as many people as he could.” Kirkpatrick said two police officers were shot after the driver emerged from the truck and are in stable condition.

FBI said the suspect is dead after a firefight with police. New Orleans police said that after the vehicle came to a stop, the suspect reportedly opened fire on responding officers, who returned fire. The victim was struck and subsequently declared deceased on scene. Further information on the suspect was not released.

Authorities said Bourbon Street was filled with revelers toasting the start of 2025 and attending New Year’s Eve parties when the attack occurred. Crowds in New Orleans have been ballooning in anticipation of Wednesday night’s Sugar Bowl college football playoff game between No. 2 Georgia and No. 3 Notre Dame. Officials said that game would go on as scheduled.

   stationed.No known connection between the 2 it would seem.

  I once considered the LV cyber truck suicide as a form of traitor, but now I am inclined to think that for at least these two events, they actually are 
   more coincidence than coinspiracy.

  I suspect that since it was New Year's Day, they each picked that day to bring attention to ytheir plights.

  It appears that Bourbon st Jabbar, was moved by Islam, or at the least, ISIS..and wanted to take as many innocent people out as he could.
   He even tried to take the police out, but lost the gun fight.

  On the other hand, the cyber truck bomber, seemingly showed no signs of any religious motive, and to me, seemed to avoid injury to others.

  I think he chose the location, simply because it would bring more attenmtion to his plight, but he seemed to avoid injuring others.

  After all, there are many ways a person can draw a crowd, plus the fuel nhe used seems more fo flash than bang... and he is likely familiar with

  Reports indicate marital difficulties and other complications...  I strongly suspect PTSD...as the motivating factor.

  Consider this, that 22 vets per day commit suicide, and this man spent years in the "deep stuff"..

One fellow who served in the military with him said  what he did was opposite of the man he served with but PTSD brings on a horrible number of suicides and this one made the headlines.
