A man on the move..a man of action..concerning Greenland.
« on: January 08, 2025, 04:10:59 AM »
Trump has his eyes fixed upon Greenland..but he can chew gum and walk at the same time (unlike other recent presidents).  So he also is addressing
   the Panama Canal..

....And the "Gulf of America" sounds pretty cool, for that Atlantic basin on our southern coast !   :D ;D

Greenland is not only rich in minerals, it also is of strategic importyance, and I guess Trump figures if we are the national example of Mike Tyson,
we should not allow pipsqueak, terrorist countries like Iran, push us around.

The lakes serving the Panama Canal are slowly drying up, and if this cintiunues..the canal will be useless.

If the present climate cycle continues, there is the distinct possibility that the old, long dreeamed of dreamed of Northwest Passage could become
    a reality !

If that happens, with Alaska, an economic partnership with Canada and controlling Greenland...we would be in the driver's seat, controlling the
   entire passage !

..And why should the present climate cycle not warm the Arctic mass...it did it before..from about 990 AD until the 15th century !

The man has REAL plans !     https://nypost.com/2025/01/07/us-news/why-does-donald-trump-want-greenland/

For those who are interested, the acquisition of Greenland may not be as impossible as some think.  Of course, Greenland is self-governing territory in
   the kingdom of Denmark.
Being self-governing, the nearly 57,000 people of Greenland, can choose their destiny.  Many there feel they have been ignored by Denmark,
and if the USA were to start extracting the mineral wealth, it could mean jobs and prosperity for Greenlanders..

Mette Fredricksen, prime minister of Denmark, had this to say...
“Greenland belongs to the Greenlanders,” Frederiksen said in an interview with Denmark’s TV 2. “On one hand, I am pleased regarding the rise in American interest in Greenland. But of course it is important that it takes place in a way where it is the Greenlanders’ decision, what their future holds.”

  The Northwest Passage...

News this morning.. Greenland's Prime Minister Egede, ready to talk with Pres Trump.  It seems a status much like Puerto Rico's with the USA,
could be beneficial for both !  I doubt it would be an outright purchase, but more like a "protectorate" status.

..Besides; we have millions of illegal aliens, and if their countries of origin..well, central Greenland is virtually unoccupied.

OK!  So there is a couple hundred feet of glacial ice to deal with, that will keep them busy and oit of mischief !   :D  ;D

You don't have any problem with 20,000,000 illegals crossing our border, but seem to think that there is an issue with 57,000 socialists in Greenland. If they even are all socialists.  Like that would be any issue to conservatives anyway. .

IG, where did you find information about the NW Passage being open in 990 AD?

I didn't say the northwest passaage was open in 990 AD..since I doubt anyone was keeping track of it then.  After all, the Vikings had just
discovered Greenland at that point.  The NWP may have been melted open then, but there is no way of knowing.

Here's what I said in the OP..  "

No mention there of the NWP.... but Greenland being part of the Arctic mass, ice there was obviously melted..

Sorry, by inference I assumed you meant the passage was open.

I believe submarines can already go the North west passage route.., since the USS Nautilus reached the north pole, back about 1958 or 59..

In fact, subs may be regularly travelling the route regularly..
