as most here know i did some boxing in my younger years and even fooled with Tang Soo Do for 2 years getting to brown belt. heres my take on all of it. to make it effective you need to fight someone using the same style. a boxer or even a black belt in a street fight or in combat is about useless if someone gets ahold of you thats strong enough to hold on. there is only really on style of fighting thats hands down better than the rest and thats judo. thats right folks. putin would be a real bad ass if you had to face him. most special forces combat hand to hand training is related to judo. as is alot of how mma fighters win fights. boxing is a sport. judo is combat

I had a bit..a small bit of kick boxing training along with some judo in the military.  It is no secret that a high percentage of fights end up on the
ground, so it is important to  be sure to get some ground fighting experience.

Think it over, unless it is a standing knockout or one retreats..it will end up on the ground.

The kick boxing training was when my oldest grandson was in high school..amnd I drove him a couple nights each week, about 45 miles into
Pennsylvania to train with a great Sensei .  I trained along with him.

Then he trained more, and when in the USMC, he was an instructor in same.  Fact is almost all Spec-Ops troops are well versed in MMA.
