You know, I am all for alternative energy, but not at a higher cost for electricity, natural gas, or propane. 

Solar panels have come down in price, but battery storage for night use is extremely high.  Solar might be great for peek demand hours in the summer when air conditioning kicks in and the sun is shining, especially in the south. 

Wind is ok, but it is only good in windy states or where offshore wind is continuous. 

If people want to get rid of fossil fuel for power, nuclear is the only way to go.  They have now developed small nuclear power plants that cannot melt down.  They can fit on a tractor trailer truck.  A bundle of these can power a lot 24/7.  People are still afraid of nukes though. 

We have already done almost everything we can to reduce energy consumption.  Appliances have become more efficient.  Homes have more insulation and double pane windows and have reduced consumption.  Cars use less gas than previous vehicles.  It is still not enough for some people.  Appliances cost more, homes cost more, cars cost more.  There is a limit.  Guys can't fix their cars under a shade tree anymore.  They are too complicated.  Electronics on cars and appliances can go bad. 

We just need to produce more power and fuel.  Nukes for power.  Hydrogen and natural gas can be used to power traditional ICE vehicles.  There is a 10,000 year supply of natural gas from hydrates in the bottom of the Bermuda Triangle we haven't even begun to mine.  Same off the coast of Japan and Greenland.

Even if global warming were true, you can't force people to pay more for energy.  You will destroy the economy, pay more for food, clothing, transportation, electricity, gas, etc. 

What is the price of electricity in California?  California has virtually no middle class.  Europe is paying heavy, etc.  Well California pays about $0.25-$0.30 per kwh.  I live in Alabama and pay $0.12-$0.15, where produced electricity is about 20% is nuclear, 30% coal, 35% natural gas, 10% hydro, and very little alternative fuel, mostly solar because wind isn't consistent enough here to produce more, even along the Gulf coast.  California has a lot of solar with expensive battery backup they are having to pay for in higher bills.  Can solar/battery systems last 30 years?  Can windmills?  Our nukes were built in the 50's and 60's and have been refueled several times, and still running, same with hydro dams, coal and natural gas equipment.

Ok, Lizzard, what is your solution without excessive costs to replace fossil fuels?  It has to be cheap or no one will buy it. 

Electric cars are ok, but they still cost too much, they take too long to charge, and their range is limited.  Solve those three and you have competition.  What is your solution for ICE cars, hydrogen fuel cells.  We don't have the hydrogen infrastructure.  Although you can blend 20% hydrogen with natural gas for transporting or even burning with natural gas.  Making hydrogen requires electricity so wind and solar near the oceans to make it?  Again infrastructure for making hydrogen isn't there yet.  Not yet cost effective. 

Solar and wind are ok, but only where there is a lot of sunshine and it is windy all the time.  Nukes are the only way to go if you replace coal and natural gas and fuel oil for producing electricity. 

If all home building was semi-underground, you could cut a lot of fuel use needed for heat/air conditioning.  Cost for a semi-underground is about the same per sq. ft. as a traditional home.  Hillsides would become valuable property. 

Costs just have to come down without government subsides to be effective.

Perhaps some of you recall when I posted how a neighbor, worried about newly hatched birds, when the mother eagle was found dead near the new solar panel farm (23 acres).

 The neighbor was concerned about the chicks in the nearby nest..  He asked my son to fly that nest, which was very high and out on a limb.
  The fledglings had all flown..nest vacant.

  Bird tested..was poisoned somehow..

  So, the solar farm continued..but soon another eagle took up the old nest..  Now the eco-freaks have shut down the charging operation and it is
   covered with snow.  Much $$$$ sitting idle there..

Well......if you refer to the links I've supplied below, you'll find that a commercial steam turbine costs considerably less than a commercial wind turbine, and it's expected life span is greater than a wind turbine.
So.....I don't know where you're getting your info from, being as you were thoughtful enough to NOT provide sources, but I suggest your math is off by a few decimal points.
