Yes

With a popular vote in place for president, not only would small states not have a voice. There would be a lot of special interest parties created. Like for instance pro abortion, anti abortion, pro gun, anti gun, pro immigration, anti immigration, and many more. So we could end up with a president who gets 20 to 30% of the popular vote. Also there would be a lot more incentive for election fraud.

Considering how badly democrat policies suck, how else could they possibly win elections? I mean they wouldn’t try and rig elections, now would they?

  Well; they could always lie..  ..But hold it; that's what they have been doing for many years..

From DDZ;

  " Biggest mistake the Marxist party ever made was stealing the 2020 election. Huge mistake. Huge!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  It likely is, but not for the reason many expect.. When they cheated so grossly in 2020, they put a lame-brtain in the office of president.
  Naturally, that halted Pres Trump's try for a second term, but it did do Pres Trump and decent Americans, a big favor !
  If he had went directly into a second term, he would have had to operate with the cabinet he had at the time, a cabinet and administration he got
   by believing some treacherous deep-state politicians..
 The first term was a learning experience, where he and we, discovered that government was an even deeper swamp than many of us thought it was.
  So, with that knowledge, he knew just what he had to do to form a competent and honest administration, to serve the people, which he has now done..
You are more sure about that than i am. What I see is appointment of individuals whose loyalty to Mr. Trump far outweighs what ever expertise they may have. I am sure that you do not see his gradual extension of his power as a threat to the very democracy he purports to defend.
He is a demagogue….and that’s OK with you.
I certainly don't see his attempts to place the executive branch under the control of the President as an extension of his power.  What I have seen as a threat to democracy is the extent to which the legislative branch has extended its authority over the executive branch.  The dems in Congress are so quick to scream "checks and balances", but what they mean is only THEIR authority over the executive and judicial branches.  "Checks and balances" is not solely in the hands of the legislature, no matter how much they wish it.  We will see an example of this when the SCOTUS has a chance to review executive branch agencies that Congress believes are under their control.
Aim small, miss small!!!
  Thank goodness our founders were brilliant people, at least they were smart enough to formulate the electoral college.
  Just think for a moment; the founders likely had "manifest destiny" on their minds.  Even back in colonial days, unlike many European
   countries, the various states had vast areas with little population.  Today there are states with comparatively little population, and again,
  unlike European nations, our nation is composed of many individual states, united for a purpose.
  Our founders wanted the union of the states to last, and it was patently clear to them, that to disallow the least populous states any voice,
  would be a sure recipe for dissolution of that union..
  If rthgey were told to just "pay taxes and shut up", how long do you expect Montana, Wyoming, Utah and the Dakotas would be pleased to stick
   with the union ?
  We already have examples..the western half of Virginia breaking away from Virginia..and if California, Washington, Oregon and New York were
   countries to themselves, they would already be separated .  Only theoverarching , stabalizing influence of the USA has kept then intact.
     "There are no absolutes!"   :D ;D  Truly comical..
  When i finished my construction years, I worked for one of those large electronics corporations.  Following the lead of other corps, we had many
  classes, taught by professorial types.
  I was in on eof those classaes, when the female teacher brouight up that statement.. "there are no absolutes"..
  So I asked her this question.. "Are you absolutely sure there are no absolutes?"  She paused a biot..the class attendees snickered a bit, and then
    she went on without comment..
  Apparently she never considered that to claim there are NO absolutes, ...is an absolute in itself "
Actually what you mean is you think Trump is a threat to Bureaucracy. We don't need to defend democracy, since we have a constitutional republic. How are any of Trumps cabinet picks lacking of expertise?  That argument is absurd, after living under Biden's cabinet picks. Was Biden's cabinet somehow not loyal to him? Trump a demagogue? Trump is doing exactly what the American voters elected him to do.  So what is Trump doing that you are so Butt hurt over?
Not once on this forum have you ever critized the mentaly incompetent Biden. Everything Biden did to destroy America, and not one critique. Could it be because you voted for him?
    I guess that's how you see it, but many of us see it very differently.  Loyalty to the chief is no crime, since the Trump administration is one of "common sense", would it be common sense to pick people who were disloyal to his plan?  That is what  happened back in 2020..and it STUNK !
  Trump is all about chosing people for their merit and competence..and not to fulfil DEI !
  You must  have noticed, he chose for vice president, a man who ran against him for the top spot.
  Perhaps beyond what you see, he did not select his people so much for personmal loyalty, as for loyalty to our country, it's Constitution, Father God,
  and the principles and values our forefathers passed onto us.
  In recent decades, it is veryt clear that the Democrats have been doing their darndest to destroy ^those^ values..
  If he were the megalomaniac you seem to think he is, he would be enlarging the government, rather than reducing it !  (Parkinson's law)
  A megalomaniac would be a speaker of the house, who demands a private airplane, similar to Air Force 1..  (Pelosi, in case you forgot)
  If a presidential candidate were a megalomaniac, they would spend 1.5 billion dollars on such things as paying million$$ to hire such as
   Oprah, Beyonce and other self centered celebrities to perform.  Likely she had no clue that such pampered people in themselves, have little
  or no power to convince the thinking electorate.
  Kash Patel was just confirmed as FBI director...if he were a conceited person, he would do a Parkinson's, and enlarge the Washington office'
  so hne could rule over a little kingdom.  Instead, Kash has spoken about greatly reducing or eliminatring the Washington office.
  No burgeoning kings (or queens) with the Republicans..they are reducing the size of the government, rather than trying to build a wasteful,
   grab-all-you-can-get bureaucracy !
  Sure..White House issues it in jest...and Newsweek pretends to take it seriously !  Do you really think Newsweek is not  hostile to Pres Trump !
  Just yesterday, the President jested about running again. i'm waiting for some hysterical news rag to say he is "creating a constitutional crisis". ;) ;D
  Now, there were times when I thought the lefties were just playing dumb !  ...But apparently I must reassess.
Its amazing how the leftists have acquired Trump Derangement syndrome.
The weeding continues. Pam Bondi fired chief counsel Pamela Hicks of the ATF who was responsible for interpretations, and definitions against our gun rights.  Its hard to take all this good news coming out of Trumps cabinet every day.  ;D
  No co-president for Trump !  He sure has a great vice president though...who should be fantastically ready to take the reins, come 2028 !
  Nope; Trump doesn't need any "co' as Biden needed Michelle and Barack Hussein !
  Likely, there will be no need for Pres Trump to serve more than 2 tyerms, since JD Vance is a virtual undersrudy and is doing so well already.
Im sure the wash. post only polled in the leftist intrenched city like DC or maybe Philly, or NYC. I'm also sure since you posted that remark that you are part of the crowd that thinks Trump has exceeded his authority, maybe tell us what he has done to exceed his authority. Or was that just one of the Trump hating snippets thrown out by the post?
