i was wondering what pellet gun would you recomend for a 50-60 price range. something around 700+ fps, preferably spring but i can deal with pump.

In that price range, I would take a chance on a rebuilt Benjamin 392 or 397. They come with a 30-day warranty. Normally sell for over $100 and are a pretty good buy at that price compared to a lot of the junk out there.

Might also consider the Crosman 2100/2200.

Not aware of any decent spring gun in that range.

I don't see how you are going to get real good top quality air rifle for the price range you have. Even a Win. 1000x is more than that and the newer model that Daisy is importing isn't the rifle that I bought for my daughter. There are some good Chinese rifle out there if you look around. Avaiable from Fun supply(They give a lifetime warranty on the every gun they sell excapt on springs and seals {which wear out with time on all airrifles}Very nice folks to do business with) its one of the nicest rifles in guns even coasting more than it does its the B18/19 avaiable in 177 or 22 caliber the 177 does almost 1000 fps and the 22 caliber does about 650 fps They come with nice iron sights and are dove tailed for scoping. cost is $85 for 177 and $87 for 22 both guns are of course plus shipping. If you go top the chinese airgun forums you will find a lot of happy owners of these airguns. As well as tuning owners stories about customizing and other things about these particular chinese rifles and others. this is one of the very best of chinese airguns well worth buying if you are on a limited budget. The Tech force 4x scope and 1 piece scope mount are also good choices for budget minded airgunners. the pair will cost you just under $100 plus shipping. I hope this helps.

Certainly one of the Benjamin/Sheridan re-builds are the way to go. I've owned a couple of the Chinese guns and it's basically rolling the dice.

I'd get a Benjamin/Sheridan 392 rebuild.

From what I been reading and been told in person recent Crosman rebuild quality has slipped badly. I got a very nice rebuilt 397 several years ago that only needed some careful rework of the pump arm metal. Older rebulilds had a digital dot matrix "RM" added in front of the serial number. New ones I've seen look like some retard with a pocket knife crudly scratched an "RM" in front of the serial number. One I saw was done so bad that it took us a while to figure out that it was a crude "RM". I've also seen some attrocious sanding that's been done on rebuilt Crosmans I suspect was done to remove stock scratches. Either things have turned really uglyat the Crosman plant of they have contracted rebuilds out to some gun butcher. It's now a toss of the coin as to what you are going to get. I hate to say it, but for that reason I would call Fun Supply and buy the Chinese rifle they recommmend.

ANYONE that wants a B-19 .22 can buy mine. I have cleaned the compression chamber and re-lubed with JM tar. It functions perfectly. In exactly the same cosmetic condition as it arrived. Otherwise, NO PROMISES. $60.00 shipped cont US.

Have any of you tried the CX Slavia 630 in .177 caliber? You can see it at http://www.cz-usa.com/product.airguns.php . It is a springer and claims 550 fps. I have one that I have used to keep the back yard policed when attacked by dark feathered flying trash. I have not scoped it, but it shoots very well for me, and appears to be very well made.

A new one will cost you around a hundred I think, but I would say it is well worth the cost, and that you will not be disappointed with it. I also have a Benjamin R9 that is a wonderful rifle, but for the kind of shooting I do in the backyard, the CZ does just as good a job.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has more experience with the CZ than I have at this point. I have not seen it mentioned here in the short time I have been lurking.

Lest we forget, gilly's criteria was $50-60.

If you want to go $80 or $100, its a different question. Personally, I believe true quality typically begin around $200+. Get a BSA SuperSport or a Beeman R9.

The Slavia 631, if available, is a real bargain.
