this one is fighting windows 10 and reboots about every 1o minutes. i think they do new operating systems to make you buy new. this one was cheap and ive had it for 8 years and it does everything i need. cant stand doing things on my phone with that little screen and tiny keyboard. made out though. wifes on the newest and best all day at work. showed her a 200 dollar one i was looking at and she went to the hospital it gu and he said it wasnt much so she paid for some 600 dollar unit that is ridiculous for me. all i do is a couple forums and shopping on it. that and check the news every morning. still pisses me off that this perfectly good one is junk. crap guys a went from a flip phone to some apple thing kicking and screaming. it rarely leaves the bar my computer sits on. only reason i did that was they made it worthless to with some upgrade. what a racket!! if they made cars you couldnt use ast 8 years old there would be riots in the streets.

     There are several computer seller/repair places in this area, and we generally just take an old on to the shop for repair/updates.

     NOW, nowadays, getting more orten, the old ones cannot handle the new systems, but two of ours are over ten years old; more often than now it is a mechanical part that goes pfft and either there are no parts to fix it, or repair is hundreds of dollars, so getting a new/used one is the better idea.

     We had an Apple and her inability to adjust to its different operating system meanit we traded it in, in less than a year.
My old, VERY old Sony mechanically gave up last year so now we are down to an old Samsung that needs it on-off system repaired, and HP and her brand new Lenovo.
     The used HP, replaced a what was once a new HP, as repair of the now old one was not a good idea as the very similar but much newere used HP I bought was money wise.

      We now go to a shop only a few miles from us, but used to go to Micro Center in the Twin Cities which is probably the best compute center I have gone to, but it is 70 miles away.
There used to be several places in St.Cloud , Mn that were very good but they both are gone now.
I have little love for Best Buy.

Come October 14th of this year Windows 10 will no longer be supported. Windows 8 and 8.1 is no longer supported now. You can find some good deals on basic computers, without all the high speed internals etc. I just got a new desktop not long ago, When I was looking so many of them have the best technology in them, and lots of them are labeled gaming computers with expensive graphic, and sound cards with really fast processors. I certainly didn't need all that stuff. Likewise I just use a computer for basic home needs.

Yep, a $200 computer works just fine for those of us that just use it for basic needs. Hard drive space is nice to have if storing a lot of photos, or videos. Then hard drives are fairly cheap. You can get a external hard drive with 1 TB of space for around $50 Which 1TB of space is way more than a normal user needs.

 Not unexpected but you can no longer get a computer with a floppy disc drive, but they still produce external floppy disc drives in most szes, and some organizations prefer to  use floppy discs.

I guess it is like Micro-Film a bit of a pain to use but it will always, minus a fire, be around in the future.
Digital/electronic storage goes away over time.

If your phone is also your computer, then as you understand how the phone works with messaging, applications, and Wi-Fi connections you get more and more comfortable having a $600 to $800 computer in the palm of your hand because it's not only your computer, it's also your communication connection to the whole world. Soon and very soon, you'll be walking into traffic, or over a cliff, not even knowing it while you are staring at your phone like the rest of the Zombie Apacolips.

not a phone guy. mine rarely leaves home. only thing i use it for is an occasional text and once in a while on my harley to pump music into ear buds.
