I had a turn around Mule 11. I had been proceeding with physical therapy, at home. In February 2025, following my Cardiac Doctor's review of his proscribed meds in me, four (4) of his meds were indicative of "weakness in the upper thighs and muscle loss in the legs",
These were EXACTLY where I have been having ALL of my trouble in recovering. His.meds were either elimnated (3 of them) or dosage was cut in.half (1), I started to see and feel marked improvement every day thereafter...
...Until...
...I sucked down a small piece of Cherios into my windpipe where it lodged for days. That irritation persisted for two (2) days while I attempted to cough up a lung in the meantime. The lasting irritation and coughing provoked Crona Virus (Summer Cold of 19-possible strains), Flu Variant A, and Pneumonia simultaneously (not unlike Pope Francis).
I was admitted to the ER, placed on high-volume oxygen, and put in a bed for observation. I thought I was going to die. From the ER they moved me to an ICU Room, intraveneous antibiodic drip for killing bacteriological pneumonia, and.monitored.me for days and days.
I did not die...thank you God. Coughing subsided slowly. Slow production of phlem helped eliminate the coughing, as did Robutussen DM.
I had now slipped to the.left on the scale of physical therapy, past "square one", into the negative, and down the slippery slope of additional lost body mass, mostly devastated muscle mass, to a point where I had zero strength to vertically sit up in hed or horizontally to roll from side to side. If after being assisted into an upright and seated bedside position, I would not have the strength to scooch (slide) myself over or to stand up.
After 32-days in a hospital bed with no exercise, little to no assist from hospital OT or PT, their hospital is being surrepetiously.TORN DOWN on April 22nd (next month), staff has been let go to find their own new jobs, everyone is bewildered, no one really cares, bad time to need excellent care, PT badgering me with, "You can do this. You are not trying," I assumed an attitude of YES I CAN and YES I WILL.
Finally, the LAST DAY, a weathered Physical Therapist showed me the exercises I should have been shown two weeks earlier, said I was now fighting for my life as going to a Rehab Facility is ALL ABOUT progress reporting, patient mental attitude, and patient physical progress as assessed by Therapy Facility committee and reported to the patient's insurance company for the insurance company's evaluation in continuing benefits.
I am "all in" with doing the work to walk as what comes from three (3) negative PT committee evaluations is life in an assisted living facility (nursing home) where your assets are seized to pay and insurance doesn't have to support your Doctor's regime of medicines.
Steroids allow me to think, to work, to do spreadsheets, and to interact with people. Insurance could care less about my interacting with.people if those drugs cost them money, are deemed "out of protocol" by their committee, thousands of miles away, who have not once laid eyes on me. They quit the steroids and it is light's out for.me.
