The title is somewhat misleading, in that the general didn't actually "discover' the site, but archaeologists did.. Perhaps he meant he discovered it for himself..
The site on Mt Ebal is where Joshua first viewed the promised land, when he led God's people in. That was about 3,500 years ago..
The archaeologists recently found a folded lead note..same date mentioning Yahweh..
