Canada; ....51st state ?
« on: March 23, 2025, 03:13:41 AM »
  No thank you !

#1..They want to keep their sovereignty.

#2..I wouldn't want to have most provinces brought into the US.

I live about 60 miles from Ontario..see and speak with Canadians very often.. Ontarians are OK..but a bit more to the left than most of us ar here.
Quebec is a different story.. The Quebecois are French and seem to mirror Trudeau in their attitudes.

I think most of us on GBO would get along well with folks from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, ..not so sure about BC..

The northern territories seem to have regular native tribes struggles.

#3.. Some in Alberta and Sascatchewan are interested in joining the UDA..possibly Manitoba too !

we are near the Ontario bunch and from what ive heard they would for the most part welcome it but who in their right mind would want to add a bunch more liberals to the voting list. they would come for the economy but in the end send us conservatives packing and it would be more like them annexing us into one big socialist canada!

That's the way I see it too, Lloyd..  Quebec is far leftist, Ontario has Toronto, with a highpercentage of lefties and non-Canadian born residents.

From what I understand, Vancouver is much the same way...and worse yet, Vancouver has a very light population outside the city.

However, Alberta, Sascatchewan and Manitoba have smaller cities with a mostly rural population.

I can see an economic union working...and perhaps that is an answer for Greenland too.

I live in Washington State and I think there are other states that need to reform and become a part of the real United States of America.  Oregon and California are in the same situation.  There was a time when these states used to be governed by sensible people, but then the stupid leftist liars got into power.  They have ruined Seattle for sure; I'm not too sure about the other large cities in the state.  Luckily, I don't live in any of them.

If Canada was begging to become another state, or several states, maybe it would be worth considering, but we have higher priorities right now.

If the Canadian plains states, which are conservative, we could add them if they break-a-way from Canada.  Ontario and Qubec are mostly liberal and have the bigger liberal cities.  Leave them alone.  Qubec, speaking French, should be it's own country anyway.

Quebec tried for independence once...back in the 1980s I believe, but it failed by a narrow vote.
