Deep Thoughts [002] - Trillionaires
« on: April 08, 2025, 02:54:05 AM »
When I was a child of the ripe old age of 10, I sat in my backyard, on a gray winter day, on my swing and thought about those in the community that had banked one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) and how rich they must be. At the same time, I also contemplated the fact that a very few people had banked one thousand times one hundred thousand dollars or one million dollars ($1,000,000.00)

I would never have suspected in 60-years to be counting billionaires ($1,000,000,000.00) and potentially one, maybe two trillionaires ($1,000,000,000,000.00) in my lifetime.

Not too surprising, when we account for inflation.. One 1960 dollar was roughly equivalent to $10 today..

One million dollars in 1960 — around the time when having $1 million took hold in the popular imagination as a symbol of ultimate wealth — had the buying power of approximately $8 million dollars today. Inflation has averaged 2.78% for the past 30 years.
