im done with ebay
« on: April 20, 2025, 06:30:42 AM »
bought some parts for my plasma cutter they said would be here in 3 days. figured it must be an american seller. 4 weeks later there still not here and i had to go to harbor frieght to buy them. told ebay i wanted to return them and they said i had to pay return shipping to CHINA! Which would no doubt cost me more than the 30 dollar parts!! tried to talk to them and got a runaround on their pms so after telling them 3 times i want to speak to an agent they said one would call me. got a call from an automated thing that told me to use their pm system did it 3 times and got the same runaround and hung up on every time. no way to even tell them to pack sand!!

I've been buying from eBay sellers for years, and so far not much in the way of problems. If buying from overseas sellers, I expect a longer shipping time. I try to make sure where the seller is located, and only buy from 98% or above rating. I did buy a 10.00 piece of electronic gear once, and never got it, or heard back from the seller. Just when I was going to complain to ebay, the sellers son contacted me, and told me his Dad had died, and he would make sure all the buyers were sent their packages. He later tied to send mine, but sent it to someone else. I gave my condolences to him and his family, and told him not to worry about it, and thanked him for trying. I bought some toys lately from China and never received them even though the made it to LA USA according to the tracking email. They did eventually put my money back in my PayPal account. Shipping can be a big problem while shopping online.

Used Ebay 1 time a few years ago. V-Belts for my riding mower were less than 1/2 of what local shops wanted. Usually try and buy from a local, but price was around $80 compared to under $30 from Ebay. Must have got lucky, they got here in a couple days and worked just fine. Never used them since, it would have to be the same kind of scenario, really big price change, but I'd do it again if I have to.

I ALWAYS check the seller's location, and reputation, but, at that, the few items that came from China, OFTEN , arrived in less time that those from the U.S.A. in a location only hundreds of miles away.
IF , the item from China does not say -FREE RETURNS - think twice and then think again.

IF some thing does not arrive, in the time stated in the add, contact Ebay immediately and cancel the transaction.
I bought a collectors coin two years ago; it did not arrive, I filed a complaint and my money was refunded. About six months later, the coin arrived and it cost me nothing.

I bought a 100 dollar , chain saw bar, and the box arrived empty, I raised unholy hell, and got my money back.
One has to read the fine print and not, wait and see. If one gets on their case, the one will usually come out on top.
I am amazed at how much business I have done on Ebay, but I think that fact is one reason , I no longer have problems, that do not get solved.

I did it all through the internet.
They do not make it easy to find the pages to use, but they are there.
Usually, if you make a complaint, they will reply is there a problem, and from there they send pages to go deeper into the problem.

Never used Ebay or PayPal. I have gotten numerous scam emails from scammers pretending to be PayPal. Amazon is my nemesis. Its so easy sometimes I just can't help myself.   :-\

amazons no better. up till recently ebay was eiser to file a complaint. just bought some hanes white socks from amazon that are obvious chinese repos. i wore 2 pairs and both had holes in them the first time i wore them. complained to amazon and they said return them but they cost 9 bucks and charged me a buck if i wanted a FREE return label and it would cost me 4 bucks in gas to get to a ups drop off. about cheaper to wear them once and toss them. as much as i hate walmart its probably cheaper to go there or places like harbor frieght menards ect and buy local. at least you can see what you buy and returns are much easier
