Action Coming Open
« on: March 28, 2004, 10:29:36 AM »
Gentlemen,
I recently bought an old Stevens 94 (Revelation 350) in 16 ga.
took it to the clay range to test it. One in every 3 times the action would come open after firing. I have heard of some single shots doing that. Can anything be done, I am going to clean it well and see if that helps. I have heard of H&Rs doing it also from the old site .

A good cleaning is a must.  Check the area down where the latch assembly is.  There may be some build up that is keeping the gun from locking up completely on a regular basis.

In addition to a good cleaning make sure you snap the action closed briskly, don't baby it or the catch won't seat itself.  Kind of like the sagging old door of my chevy truck that won't latch unless you slam it good.
