.22 Hornet .223 or .224 ?
«

I believe some hornets were/are made with .223 bores but most modern ones are.224. Is this right ?
If so, which were made with .223 ? Or, more to the point, what bore do C.Z.s have?
Also, what twist rate does the C.Z. have ?
Regards, Gaz.

I think all the newer rifles are 224 dia. not sure about the cz, not syre about the twist either but would guess one in 12 or 14. i have a ruger 77-22 hornet and its a one in 12 which is good with calhoon bullets in 25 or 30 gr. hope this is a little help. good luck and keep your powder dry,, joe

To the best of my knowalege there have not been any .22 Hornets made with .223 bores since the 1950`s. Not sure about the twist rate of the CZ, but most Hornets have a 1 in 16 twist rate. They will usually shoot well with bullets of 45 grns. and down.

The C.Z. hornet is .223 dia. bore, but shoots .224 dia. bullets great. Mine groups 40 gr. V-Maxes in the 3's @ 100 yards.

Actually there have been rifles made with .223" bores in the Hornet since the 50s. The Browning Low Wall Hornets all have a .223" bore and 1 in 14" twist. They shoot .224" bullets but the pressure climbs really fast and you can't use anywhere near a max load using them. Dunno about the CZ personally.
