Just letting you guys know that Century Arms is out of the $89 Swiss K31's (Good condition. I didn't ask about the ones with the cracked stocks). Tried to order one over the weekend and got a message back from a customer service rep saying they were sold out of them. I'm not sure if they'll get more in. Just passing the word along as the supply might be drying up, so you might want to get one soon if you want one. I personally have one on the way from AIM right now. They're just too interesting and nice of a rifle to pass up at this price. Wish I would have been able to get my C&R a while back, and have gotten some of the different Mausers and such back when they were resonably priced.

I guess we just talked about this happening in the future and its starting to happen now already with 8MM yugo ammo and now K31's its been happening with swede mausers too. Since its been over 60 years since some of this stuff was made I guess its time to runout. I'm not sure what the future of collecting will bring but its going to be interesting to see what happens. I also heard that Century has sold all its surplus 8MM ammo to J&G sales too so what they have thats it. BigBill

Oh, they haven't disappeared! :wink: They've simply been bought up by the dealers. The gun show in Richmond was full of the afore-mentioned rifles, BUT now you'll have to pay THEIR price for them (about double). :roll:

Yeah, I'd expect the supply of surplus 7.5x55 ammo to be gone soon too. I only ordered 20 rounds of that to start off (if it was boxer primed I would have ordered more). Graff has 7.5x55 brass for $28 per 100, so I'll be buying 100-200 of those and reloading for the K31.

SOG still has some SMLE's as well (the wire wrapped ones though

). Still deciding on whether or not to get one of those. The K31 was a no-brainer though.

The scary thing is that a LOT of collectible rifles are probably gathering dust (and rust :evil:) in attics and basements. As some of the older shooters among us pass on, if the people who inherit the stuff aren't shooters, they'll likely just stick it away somewhere

Older collectors are selling off their collections as we speak it time to hit local gun shops too. Keep on looking in your local pawn shops the wives and relatives hock the guns when they don't want them I've gotten some pretty good buys in pawn shops mainly because the guy who runs it didn't price the surplups right nor did he know a Sino Soviet SKS from a regular chinese sks which was in my favor. I picked up a hardely used new looking Sino Soviet SKS cheap. We can do good if we keep on visiting local pawn shops to see whats new. BigBill

I've been watching the gun shows for a nice K31, most have been pretty crappy. I saw a beut on Saturday, but of course it had a cracked stock. I didn't know the price of a stock, or the availability, so I passed on it. When I got home and did a little research, I was able to find one for $49.00. Now I'm kicking myself. I guess it's all about knowledge.

From the looks of your K-31, you did absolutely great!!!!

Have you fired it yet? You will be amazed at the accuracy!

You got very lucky with this rifle - don't let it get away from you as you will rue the day when you think about it in the future.

Congratulations again on a fine looking acquisition!

I've fired it, but only twice. It was almost dark when I got home and I didn't have time to go to the range, so I just put out a cardboard box in the backyard and took two shots (it's great living in the country

). So far they went right where I aimed :-). I'll take it to the range this weekend and shoot a bit more. I've only got 18 rounds left though. Ordered 2 of the 10 round boxes with the rifle just to start out with. I'm ordering a set of dies from Midway to handload for my main shooting with the rifle. I already like the rifle enough to know I won't ever sell it though. The straight pull is so neat, as is the fact that it takes a detachable magazine. The no-nonsense safety is also just so obvious. Simple, yet works perfectly and is probably a lot safer than a modern safety, since this actually locks the striker into position.
