I've got a few B & L #2 longs that I beefed up and they still have similar spring strength to when they came out of the box. I've got a 1-1/2 coil B & L that is still pretty snappy, too. My victor 1-1/2 springs went dead long before this one ever will.
The #44 double long was a real nice big model. Nice big pan, and set very easily over my knee. Nice beaver trap when tweaked a little.
I'd like to see some similar models come back around, too. The sleepy creeks were a decent breakout into the current market. Those Montana #3s are a great carbon copy of the old monty's, too. Some companys are showing some great manufacturing specs, which is nice to see. Even Dukes are not the same Dukes that were produced some time back, when "cheaper" models were hitting the market in bulk. The trapping community overall were not fans of weak springs, thin mil steel, and poorly stamped out components. But, as was mentioned earlier, manufacturing costs, material costs, and labor costs would make it extremely difficult to produce anything decent that would be affordable for any of us.
We can only hope, though...
