saw this in the november issue of petersens hunting. my question is how reliable is single trigger double. how fast and easy can the selector switch be worked. i noticed that the weatherby athena also uses this system.

I've had no problems with a single trigger in my Browning for the 6000+ rounds I've fired so far.  The trigger was reworked by Briley when my sub-gauge tube set was fitted so the trigger would reset on the light .410 recoil.  Barrel selector is on the tang, and easily manipulated by my thumb.

Kevin, I have a single selective trigger on my Ruger Red Label.  The tang safety slides forward and back for safe and right or left in either position to select which barrel fires first.

It is very fast, easy and an automatic movement when bringing up the gun to select which barrel will fire first.  Haven't had any problem with it.  I don't know anythign about that Savage.  Hope this is of some help.

I have been using a Bakail double with a single trigger in CAS for about six months now with now trouble. In fact, I have grown to like it. In case you didn't know, the "new" Savage 411 is made by Bakail of Russia. These are well made guns, I really enjoy mine.
