Time to call your congressman. The FBI NICS (national instant check system) is still down. It's been down for days maybe longer. You can't get a gun transferred until they get it back up.

If you have a ccw in Utah they don't use the NCIS, simply showing your permit and filling out the yellow form gets you out the door with a new firearm.

Do other states use this system, or are you stuck depending on the feds?

Same way in North Carolina if you have a ccw they dont need to call in background

People with a concealed permit don't need to do a further background check in AZ either. The DPS (highway patrol) used to do the background checks for us but they went to the FBI NICS to save money. And as usual the FEDS screw things up. I called my congressman but can't get ahold of anyone 'til Monday.

So here again we have government incompetency hampering free Enterprise. :roll:

It does though bring up a good opportunity to convince people to get there ccw. I have talked to quite a few who weren't interested because they would never carry. They do become interested though when I explain the other benefits of having a permit:
You no longer have to wait for the background checks.
You can carry as many firearms with ammo you want to the range without having to lock it all up in separate boxes.
You have a second picture ID for cashing checks.

You increase the statistical evidence in favor of gun ownership.
